Indain Navy warship heads to Somalia to free sailors

The Indian Navy has sent a naval warship to the Somali coast in order to secure the release of seven of its citizens held captive by pirates despite taking ransom.

A Talwar Class stealth warship has been deployed near the Somali coast, which will remain close to the hijacked ship and ensure that MV Asphalt Venture doesn't get hijacked again and other groups don't harm its crew.

The decision was taken in a high level meeting where Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee [ Images ], Home Minister P Chidambaram [ Images ], Defence Minister AK Antony and Navy chief Nirmal Verma were present.

The pirates had released eight Indian sailors from merchant vessel MV Asphalt Venture but have held back seven hostages to secure the release of their accomplices in Indian jails.

The Indian Navy has so far captured 120 Somali pirates during its anti-piracy operations in the waters off Gulf of Aden and Lakshadweep Islands in the last six months.

According to reports, 53 Indian sailors are being held hostage on five different ships.

Try to be brave...even if some Sailors loose there life next time they will not dare to take a Indian hostage again...or else whats the use of having one of the worlds biggest Armed forces...What do u think Israel would have done in Indias place...Damn our weak diplomacy & slow moving decision makers...

Try to be brave...even if some Sailors loose there life next time they will not dare to take a Indian hostage...or else whats the use of having one of the worlds biggest Armed forces...What do u think Israel would have done in Indias place...Damn our weak diplomacy & slow moving decision makers...

Its not about being brave dude its about thinking both ways, i know you are correct also but just think both ways.......Suppose we do a Commando operation and kill those pirates and with few casualties bring back some sailor's.

BUT if in future pirate's Capture any ship and if they found the sailor's as Indian then they will kill them on-board just to take revenge...

Somalia is NOT a nation you get down and fight.

Instead let loose some four or five missiles over the suspected Pirate hotbeds and send the scums above.

Its not about being brave dude its about thinking both ways, i know you are correct also but just think both ways.......Suppose we do a Commando operation and kill those pirates and with few casualties bring back some sailor's.

BUT if in future pirate's Capture any ship and if they found the sailor's as Indian then they will kill them on-board just to take revenge...

DO one think Disband ur Navy ,Airforce & ur Army...atleast we can use those money on our Infrastructure...world is Correct India is a Weak Nation...cozz of people like u who are Worried about the Future...

Somalia is NOT a nation you get down and fight.

Instead let loose some four or five missiles over the suspected Pirate hotbeds and send the scums above.

I am asking for a Surgical Attack, a commando operation to get our Sailors free...a well planned attack which may last for less than 2 to 4 hours...

Ok ur telling if we do a operation against them then they may catch more Indian sailors... that may be correct...but Its also possible that Next time They may release Indian sailors out of fear that Indian Forces will chase them down where ever they go after this operation...

other nations have launched similar ops and the IN MARCOs are among the best maritime SFs in the world. What the difference- an incompetent political leadership who are reluctant to conduct such operations.
