Notice the new antennas being added to all IN ships. Does this have anything to do with the new naval satellite being launched? Possibly for massive amounts of secure data transmissions!!

Interesting, but on the other side the later addition to the design is a problem too, since it will add RCS again. If we compare it with French designs for example, we see way less superstructures / antennas.

I don't think that they will have a big impact on the RCS. Moreover, being transparent to radio waves, the housing itself should have a minimal impact on the RCS of the vessel. And at the end of the day, I would assume that the downside wrt RCS is more or less insignificant. Take a look at some modern low observable naval designs with similar housings....

LCS Independence ....

Fremm .....

This doesn't mean that these are of the same category as Shivalik. It is just to show that if required, even modern designs maintain such housings for secure satellite transmissions.

I didn't meant this sensor alone, but the ammount of external fittings of sensors and arms on the Shivalik class. These are countering the advantages of stealth shapings again, because any of them will increase the RCS again. When you look at the Fremm or LCS pics you posted, you will see that they have a way cleaner design when it comes to external fittings. Missiles are housed in integrated vertical launchers, sensors are integrated in a shapped mast or shapped forms. It's just like with fighters, the less external payloads you have, the lower the RCS, an F22 won't be stealthy if it carries external fuel tanks or weapons right?

That defenitely a field of design and development we have to improve at our indigenous vessels, especially to integrate the weapons and sensors from the start into the design and not to add them later, when the design is done.

Where are my Megatons and DF series missiles, we will destroy you evil Indians and Koreans.
I said it before the usual high IQ and there pet low IQ brigade comes for known ranting.
I belive this much warning should be enough for us.
Specially i dont want Martian2 to come with same copy paste article and suffocate and strangle the bandwidth.

Ofcourse. I thought you were talking about the antennas per say. Hopefully the future iterations (P-17A/ P-15A/B) will have better superstructure design (read integrated mast system). The fact that the future P-17A and P-15A are both going for Barak indicates that this is possible thanks to the Israeli MFR's. Already the P-15A's (set for commissioning next year) have improved considerably.

The basic design of P-17 is very impressive and I am confident that it would turn out to be the broad design framework for P-17A's as well.

I thought India would identify more with North Korea which is exactly like it

Here , you go :

two loser nations combined = one big loser. that is all.

PLA entered Korea war on October 19, 1950, captured Seoul in 10 weeks.
PLA kicked india's *** in 1962

now South Korea and india are teaming up, tell me what you two losers can achieve?

Shivlaik class- B-E-A-UTIFUL!!!

What I love about them is that not only are they Indian designed and made but at 6200+ tonnes they are still classified as frigates by IN!!

Wrt to antennas- it does seem that with the help, especially, of the Israelis ie Elta/IAI the IN is rapidly retro-fitting datalinks/SATCOMs etc to the majority of the fleet- even VIRAAT!

+ quite like the Satupura and Deepak class tanker sailing together- a glimpse into the future of IN and Deepak tankers are nice on he eyes!
