Indian Modi cancels Registration of world's largest Environment organization - Greepeace !

The following is the most detailed I've been be to google about greenpeace in India. Will spend some more time on it and see if there is any transparency or misuse issues.

I completely support Indian govt's wish to push industry but a balance must be maintained. Organizations such as greenpeace provide the necessary speed-breakers when for example some populisyt minister starts taking unilateral decisions.

And greenpeace has an obligation to the public, to its donors and the government to be TOTALLY transparent and show ALL sources of funds, and compliance with regulations.

did not tell government about accounts they were operating for foreign funds, were using 5 different accounts.

Remember the 2 girls rape order by village news circulating around few days ago, Amnesty was the one to start crying and even started a petition campaign against it. Turned out it was a fluke and an Amnesty official said they did not even do their ground work LOL.
I heard of the rape order cr@p but did not know that it was proven to be false.
This sort of thing seems to happen a lot these days.. The media gives a lot of coverage to something withiut doing any "fact checking " whatsoever and then don't give the same prominence to any retraction.

Journos need to be better trained, they should check and double check from several independent sources before they publish anything. This is becoming a nuisance.

The media will learn only when they pay a price - a big one. With reference to this allegation, it has not been proven to be false but the police & others have denied it & so is more likely than not, untrue. Amnesty went with the allegation the girl made in her submission to the court. This allegation could just have been added to bring in added pressure as well as adverse media coverage. Seems to have worked. Common tactic in alleged dowry cases, now being extended.

Sure, every kid knows India became a theocracy on may 16, 2014

2014, the year India became a Hindu state

One of the most idiotic ill informed piece of writing I've come across. Some major goofups:

1) What kind of a socialist country seeks Walmart? - I am not a fan off walmart, because they make all towns look alike, kill of the small mom&pop stores that are part of vibrancy (Indian towns look so vibrant, American small towns so dead!) and increase the need for cars. BUT they do bring down price of essential good and commodities a lot which helps the lower income groups. Socialists welcome lower prices don't they? and fewer cars?

2) they see nothing wrong with the tokenism of Modi donating Rs 25 crore of Indian taxpayer money to the Pashupatinath temple in Nepal.- Does the author know how much Indian government and state governments spend on subsidizing Haj yatras for Muslims? Many poor and lower middle class muslims will not be able make the trip without that. There is even special permanent dedicated sections and facilities in Hyderabad airport to facilitate Haj. Secular is NOT anti-God or anti-religion or anti-Hindu. It is treating all with respect.

3) Trying to draw a distinction between radical Hindutva outfits and the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party is meaningless, because, as everyone knows, they all belong to the same Sangh Parivar spearheaded by the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh. - Why?

and so

Good decision, my state now can witness some more development. I would have slept more soundly had the Government totally banned this scum organization.

not possible, because they are not "anti-national"... we may call them anti-human but they are not anti-national.

from your source, i found a indirect link to a article describing another sangh project, ( )...
C.1 Linking the Sewa Institutions: The RSS. Sewa International and IDRF
At the very outset, Sewa International is a Sangh organization. Its historical connection to the Sangh is visible from the fact that in older Sangh literature, the address of Sewa International is the same as that of the RSS headquarters in Delhi.[99] Further, this fact is established time and again in much Sangh literature that describes the Sangh’s Sewa karya (Service work). In its mission statement Sewa International characterizes itself as “an umbrella for more than 2000 projects and programs all over India” overseeing “more than 50000 Swayamsevaks (volunteers) involved in running 76 types of activities.[100] Similarly, Sewa Disha, the Sangh’s Sewa Vibhag report introduces Sewa International as follows:

Yet another development is the establishment of an international organization titled ‘SEWA INTERNATIONAL’ which now has branches in many countries. Sewa International will look after the interests of seva [service] related issues not only in the respective countries where they have chapters but also take up ‘GLOBAL’ level care of sewa [service] work carried out under the Sangh ideology. [101]

So also, the RSS website documents its links with its operations abroad, “in over 100 countries”:

where volunteers are busy organizing Hindus under different organizations. Hindu Council, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Sewa International, Friends of India Society International, etc. are some of them.[102]

what a name... "friends of india society international"... see how they claim the word "india" to forward their misdeeds.

i despair when i especially see ladies directly or indirectly supporting regressive and reactionary groups such as vhp, rss and bjp... don't you know that the "culture" they want to preserve includes female foeticide??

usaid is a usa government agency...
Provides economic, development and humanitarian assistance around the world in support of the foreign policy goals of the United States

obviously, nda government ( bjp controlled ) will not ban anything close to the cold heart of usa government.

I used to contribute to Greenpeace while I was in college.

in russia or in india??

and what was the nature of your contribution, other than donation of money??

Green Peace is not an Indian organization. They were receiving foreign money and hence they should not faulter on that count.

right.

They over stepped when they climbed the ESSAR office and cover it with anti-essar slogans. acc. to me this was too much for a foreign agency to be doing against an indian company.

i don't know the context of that situation but let us not make indian companies some holy cow... if companies like vedanta are destroying ecology, they should be demolished rather than talk of acting against groups which protest such things.

greenpeace and other groups have been rightly agitating against nuclear power reactors in india...

12886_23544.jpg

...surely, indian government has a responsibility to protect the people and ecology of india, as also of the region and the wider world.

nuclear power is a 50's technology, dangerous and obsolete... others have been creating projects of various solar techniques and other simpler and renewable fuels/methods... it is a failure of the indian scientific community to not have innovated in the field of energy.

also, electric generation is best through decentralized methods.

may be they played in the hands of the anti - essar business lobby in UK or perhaps Reliance used them.

if so, greenpeace must be careful about not working with uneducated people like the ambani brothers... surely, that ugly building, antilla, must be a blinking signal.

Their way of protests against several projects have been over bearing. they could take legal recourse instead of resorting to protests by involving public.

the people must participate, after all the people live in the same ecology and therefore have a duty of seeing

NGOs are used by intelligence agencies in their agendas and operations.

the indian national government is not the syrian government or russian government or cuban government that must fear cia... didn't the bjp say in 1998 that "india, usa and israel are natural allies"??

bjp really has other concerns...

Cohorts with AAP?

Greenpeace was also accused of keeping the company of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a fact that was not looked upon favourably by the IB. “Pankaj Singh, a consultant to Greenpeace decided to use what he thought would be a great personal opportunity to join AAP,” they explain in their statement.

6. Activism against extractive industries in the Northeast

CORDAID intervention in Northeast India also made it to the IB's bad Ngo list. Their protests and opposition to the mining and drilling activities in the Northeast was not received well by the IB. The fact that they opposed the AFSPA, was also seen as an outright attack on India's development

India is a Pseudo Secular country, not a Hindu state.:astagh::wacko::closed:

true, sadly... when reactionary and regressive groups ( from all communities ) or institutions ( like khap panchayats ) have been allowed to operate for 68 years, it is the wrong kind of secular.

I read somewhere that there are MORE NGOs than schools in india. If every NGO started a school, then they would actually have gone a long way to solving the problems of the very people they claim to be working for.

surely, there must be more engineering colleges in india than ngo's, which is why india remains a largely backward country, talking of "development" while the uno-who has given it the tag of "suicide capital of the world".

I find the guardian to be very biased ...and the comments section seems filled with bloody Brits saying things like ... "Cut of all aid to india" .. " They are going to mars on our aid and eating babies."....no body asked for their their bloody aid....they insist on giving it as a cover for bribe money.

I don't support/Endorse any Political Party or likes of VHP etc, but RSS'S head office is next to place in Delhi. I lived their for 5 years and the way they are portrayed by media and Pseudo Seculars is wrong to the end. I don't wish to get into it as this is not the right thread to debate on it. I don't support-endorse the moronic statements they made...

I supported Anna Hazare, AK-49 and company during India Against Corruption campaign. I supported AK-49 during his first stint of CM. I believe, he let down Delhities and in 2nd stint he is doing the same. Hence, I bash him.

Congress: They Fucked UP India under 'United Public Looters Association I-II. Hence, I bash them too.

BJP: I believe Modi can put Indian Economy on right path. Hence, I support him. Since, he has become PM, hasn't made any wrong statement about any community or anything else.

The Sanghi's in BJP Govt. do, I bash them.

If Modi fails to live up to the promises made by him or etc.. I will bash him as well.

Just to let you know, I wish well being of India and willing to support anyone who does good for her..Irrespective of his/her cast, creed or religion.

I bash Sikh, Hindu and Islamist fanatics. They all are same for me.

I above tried to clear my Political posturing.

I've heard about USAID for the first time, I can't say much. I'll do my search on it, if NDA government supports them for xyz reasons, you'll see me bashing them as well.

I completed my Graduation from Delhi University. I was making small monetary contribution for cleaning of 'Gana River & education of Orphan childrens'. I even participated in their campaigns etc...

However, they cheated not only me but other's like me. Hence, I believe; I have right to criticise them and appreciate NDA government for kicking these fraudsters.

Indian Woman Married To A Dog In The Name Of Tradition

1. so, how many brides married to a tree first, didn't have their husbands dying later, either by accident or by illness or old age??

2.
Marriage of young girls to this tree was done with the idea that the dangers of a second marriage can be passed on to this particular tree or any other trees.
danger of a second marriage, eh?? 900 bc bullshit.

Its unfortunate that the Green Peace is banned in India but I dont subscribe to their ways of functioning. I first noticed them long ago when France had sunk their boat Rainbow Warrior near their nuke testingsite. Their objectives are right but their ways are questionable. When I read about their audacity at Essar House, I knew their days are numbered. I have never seen any NGO raising voice against a Reliance project. Reliance can intimidate Indian NGOs but foreign NGOs should not get intimidated. Indian companies or even the government may not be a holy cow but that does not entitle an NGO to act stupid and against the law of the land.

Any large scale industrial project has an adverse ecological impact. Any dam built on a river has an adverse ecological impact. Any mining activity has an adverse ecological impact. Any factory emitting carbons has an adverse environmental impact. But all these do not mean that there should be no development program. It has to be viewed in right perspective. Instead of halting a project the NGOs should educate the people, file a PIL, internationalize the issue, take to international fora, lobby in parliament but they should refrain from mobilizing indian people and organizing agitations. Green Peace have been very aggressive in their public protests. To me it seems they were not interested in a larger goal but they were more keen on media attention and achieving petty things. If the NGOs are so righteous they should try judicial intervention.

Ask an Indian which NGO works for children and the first name comes to mind is CRY but who wins Nobel Prize? Kailash Satyarthi. 80% NGOs are giving bad name to the rest.
