MUMBAI: A 38-year-old man was arrested by the Saki Naka police on Saturday for murdering his elder sister by thrashing her at his residence in Chandivli.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, following which the victim was hospitalized and died on Friday. The police said the accused, Pandhari Rasam, was undergoing psychiatric treatment for mental illness. His sister, Mandakini (45), was a divorcee and was residing in Pandhari's house.

New Delhi: A 16-year-old class 10 student committed suicide by hanging himself after his mother scolded him for not paying proper attention to his studies, police said on Saturday.
Ravi was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the house in east Delhi’s Mansarovar Park on Friday night, said a police official.

No suicide note was recovered.

Ravi, whose class 10 examinations were going on, was scolded by his mother on Friday evening.

“After that his mother, Madhu, went to a nearby vegetable market. When she returned, she found him hanging,” said the official.

Ravi studied in Arvachin Public School in Vivek Vihar.

JAIPUR, India — An India court on Saturday sent Joncarlo Patton, the prime suspect in the murder of his mother, to a Juvenile Protection Home until Monday.Patton, 15, who was arrested Friday at an Indian airport in connection with the murder of his mother, Cindy Iannarelli, appeared before the chief judicial magistrate. He was ordered to appear against August 16.
Iannarelli, 51, from South Fayette Twp., Pa., was found with her throat slit at a tourist resort in the historic town of Osian late Thursday, police superintendent Girdhari Lal Sharma said.

India news media are calling the killing a "cold blooded murder."

“The mother's throat was slit by a sharp object. We are interrogating the boy as he is the prime suspect,” Sharma said.
