That's not the Surya Kiran. The aircraft in the picture is the new IJT (Intermediate Jet Trainer), the planned replacement for the Surya Kiran.

I was sitting at the collage lobby when CNN flashed the news. this is sad, may he RIP.

This is what happens when you keep using old aircraft..India is the only country in the world using Harriers. India has to spend a lot more money than she is doing now to clean up all the junk she has.This is primarily due to the lost decade in the 90's when India did not have money to spend on defense.
