For the majority of Nepalis, India is the most popular of South Asian countries, a survey reveals.

More than 84% Nepalis have a positive opinion of India, followed by Bangladesh (44%), Sri Lanka (43%), Bhutan (40%), the Maldives (39%), Pakistan (33%) and Afghanistan (26%,).

If India was a hegemonistic power most Nepalese would not have liked India . But they do

1. Nepal is the only official Hindu Kingdom of the world, whose Official Language is Hindi (Devnagri scripr). Nepali language is a dialect.

2. Indian & British Army still induct Gurkha's in their army, Both have Nepali Gurkha's

3. Nepali & Bhutanese can freely work /stay /study in India.

4. Indian/ Nepali/ Bhutanese do not need Visa to travel even a passport, between their countries.
Only few years back , they started using any Govt id as id proof. & that is to avoid Terrorist.

5. All trade to Nepal happens via India, Its a Land locked country with Mighty Himalayas between them and China.

Nepal historically was always oppressed by Bharat and until the maoist rose to power Hegemonic India saw no opposition to
their exploitaion of the nepalese. They bharmin hindus are just following their akhand bharat policy and result is all the
unrest going on S.Asia. After all people don't give up their freedom to an alien power without a fight. Good news is nepal is trying
to get out of india's grip and has recently awarded China's Three Gorges International is to build the US$ 1.6 billion West Seti hydropower plant in west Nepal. China agrees to invest in Nepal's biggest project - Times Of India. Goes to show the strong will and determination of the nepali people to remain

1)Biharis and Purvanchalis of India and the Madhesi in Nepal( 1/3 of population) are same people.
