What's new

Indian Govt bans FTV for nine days for showing women topless

What is Indian law about such content? I mean is there any law under which such content can not be shown??

I am more interested to know about the law instead of what FTV shows

Face saving attempt really. you know very well what the law on TV nudity can be in the sub continent. Never mind its not new that you are starting a non-defence/non-geopolitical thread.

This is yet another thread you started. Dont know whats so millitary about that. Have a look:

And this news item appears on Defense forum because..................................

because there is a section in the same forum called "World affairs" where topics like Top 10 richest peoples on earth are being discussed

.
Whats there to discuss......the channel broke a law against Nudity on Public television...and faced the penalty...... period.::

Thats what i wanted to know if there was any such law in India. And if it is a law in India then howcome some of Indian Movies get away with it. Because we have seen some songs even where Indian known actress/es shown shedding the tops though they swtich the scene very quickly.

2. Recently we have a news on this same forum which said India was going to start that controversial naked body scanning system at airports, so is that not going to break the nudity law?

.
can some on post that clip of ftv i wanna check ban is fear or not

yeah i want to watch that video too

Please share the clip so we can decide whether the ban is fair or not ;)

Here is a link to legal resources related to the Indian Television industry:

Legal resources related to indian broadcasting

Go and read...I cant read all ....time constraints....but it does have a section that has some relevance here:

"9.1 - The broadcasting should observe a greater degree of responsibility and sensitivity to Indian culture and ethos and cater to the developmental requirement of the country. It should achieve an Indian personality in telecasting/ broadcasting."
(Para 6.4.1.1) "

. .
The law is that the law makers wouldnt mind ogling at nude females but want the rest of the country to not do that. I think there should be a difference between a channel showing on that and open ads on national TV or banners. Chosing a channel to watch just that is a personal choice which the government should have nothing to do with. But yes if objectionable content was to appear on say a news channel or your daily soaps channels, then yes you can control that as you might have kids watching.
Moral policing though is a good thing these days for people who want their 15 minutes to fame. You either be on a reality show or break a few glass panes in the name of culture.

And the rest is all controversy stirred ...just to serve some biases.

And Please the live scans at airport are not made public...and not broadcaster on television for sure......sos your argument is not valid here....

Movies are a different ballgame...there is a censor board that takes care of Movies...and movies are given certificates like A, UA...and U...based on the type of Movie...a **** movie would be given a A certificate...and will only be accessible to Adults...legally.....

UA would be given to Movies with some skimpy clothing...and parental guidance warning is added

And U is given to movies fit for all.... and there are laws that control access to the content.

Again not relevant to the discussion here.

i can not go back to all those threads where someone has posted the images taken through such scane. It was pretty visible not like this.

And thre is no gaurantee that those will not be made public.

Besides what about internet? We have many such **** sites and such content on youtube to some extent , does that law apply to internet too??

Please trust me ...as I have been through these machines myself...and I requested the security personal that If I can see whats visible...so My Brother stood in the machine...and I looked at his image...and all that was visible was that you see in the second image in my post......the people who don't know what the scan is ..are the only people having issues with it.

And thre is no gaurantee that those will not be made public.

I think there is enough security of the machine ..and storage ....to make sure that nothing happens....these comments are just reluctance to accept a new technology.....are you aware that when you go to hospital they store your images in files....and they can be leaked any time...but you go there right.

There are internet laws for pornography....not as nasty as Chinese laws.....but if caught visiting a **** website...under 18yrs kids can be jailed ..along with their parents........and companies have to publish notice on their website that the content is only accessible to Adults.
