Amid rising Pakistani-Indian tensions over the disputed Kashmir region, Indian generals are reportedly calling on the government to approve a sustained six-month campaign to destroy “terrorist infrastructure” on the Pakistani side of the de-facto border.

“We have to look at a sustained campaign. The terror network is on the back foot, but to really achieve something, we have to look at a medium-term plan, a six-month campaign. A one-off event will not deter them,” a top Indian Army official wasquoted by Times of India as telling the country’s government.

The suggestion comes at a time of rising tensions over Kashmir, a mountainous border area that India and Pakistan have been disputing for seven decades. Each party controls part of the region, while claiming sovereignty over all of it. Two of the three wars that the two nations have fought were over Kashmir.

Tensions flared two weeks after a militant attack on an Indian camp left 19 border guards dead. The Indian Army reported launching“surgical strikes against terrorists” last Thursday across the Line of Control (LoC), the militarized de-facto border between the two parts of Kashmir. Pakistan denied that the incursion had occurred, claiming that cross-border shelling from India had killed two Pakistani soldiers.

The situation escalated further after India reported yet another attack in Kashmir that targeted the camp of India’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles in Baramulla on Sunday evening, triggered an Indian manhunt for at least six gunmen involved in the raid, who had retreated under cover of darkness, according to Indian reports.

According to the Times of India report, Indian generals say they have an opportunity to destroy 40 militant “launch pads” hosting over 200 troops if they are given the green light for the operation.

“We have the opportunity right now. Everyone is geared up and we have a much stronger hold on LoC than the other side. This is the time to make an actual difference that will deter cross-border terror support,” an Army official reportedly said.

Need not be. Any future plans of trans border attack need not be confidential as long Pakistan lives in denial and doesn't respond. The campaign is a wish of the army. It is up to their political leaders to grant that wish.

@IndoCarib I don't think its possible for India to carry out such operation they will have to face a massive fight by pak army and counter attacks in Indian held Kashmir too
And secondly I don't think there is any point in launching this operation
u will have to carry out a zarb e azb type of operation to fully destroy there infrastructure and if u do destroy there infrastructure don't u think they will develop it again

WTF is this ??
1. Aside it says Indian forces on the ready, have a strong hold on LoC

2. on the other side they say Terror attacks expected on military camps, civilian areas ...

3. Pak militant network to step up heat, launch pads likely to be activated

If point 1 is valid then the third point is totally irrelevant because what Pakistan could achieve through these launch pads when all the LoC is in strong hold of Indian forces o_O

Again if first point is valid then how come there would be Terror attacks expected on military camps, civilian areas as Indians claims that these has been done by Pakistani infiltrators as they will never be able to cross a heavily guarded LoC ... :undecided:

So it seems if the first point is valid and 2nd points becomes true as well then all those attacks would be happen from Inside as the reason is plain and simple Indian atrocities in OJK. :coffee:

As we experienced in recent "Sir Jee Kal Strike (Sahib Jee Kal Hartal)" by this Action plan they will keep the whole Jack in their own arss for whole six month :o: ...

Waisay now I am inclined to think after watching all the bombardments of these threads that their is some third party hand is in all this mess and they are trying to provoke us and so far we are showing restraint and that is where they are failed. I can see East is coming near us and playing their game as they have played in Turkey.
