DHAKA: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled his participation in the Jana Sangh campaign backing the rebels in former East Pakistan as he accepted a ‘liberation war’ honour on behalf of former premier Atal Bihari Vajpayee, reported the media.

Admitting that there had been a conspiracy to divide Pakistan, he said the establishment of Bangladesh was a desire of every Indian and that’s why India’s forces fought along with the Mukti Bahini, thus creating a new country.

Modi said he was one of the young volunteers who came to Delhi in 1971 to participate in the Satyagraha Movement launched by Jana Sangh as a volunteer to garner support for the Mukti Bahini members
Speaking at the ceremony to receive the award ‘Bangladesh Liberation War Honour’ from President Abdul Hamid and in messages at a social networking website, Modi recalled Vajpayee’s speech in parliament on December 6, 1971, in which he asked the government to recognise Bangladesh as a nation.
The citation of the award hailed Vajpayee as a “highly respected political leader” and recognised his “active role”.He praised his Bangladeshi counterpart Hasina Wajid for the crackdown against ‘terrorists’ and said India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh had decided to promote trade relations.

Events have happened Bangladesh formed. Yes this conspiracy theory isn't something new.
It will be in our best interest to bury the past and move on. Better to ignore Bangladesh rather than further pressing on to establish better relationship between the two sides.

Bangladesh immigrants are illegally entering our country for a better future. But then again we allow them to enter. I believe if we adopted a firm stance and treated any Bangali immigrants like the Rohingya Muslim's then the whole world will be screaming. As all long hardliner Bangladeshies like shiek Hasina exist I don't see any bright future relationship between the two of us. .

After recently watching an interview if Shiek Hasina I have come to realise why Modi and Hasina share common interest. An interview with Shiek Hasina by Al- Jazeera regarding Bangladesh to provide hep and assistance to her own people as well as the Rohingya Muslims who are standard at sea.

Her response was niether of a human nor a Muslim's.
Bluntly saying that they all are responsibility of the Myanmar government aand denying them even basic substance. She is most definitely a lier.

That is a frank confession. We had a lot left subsequent to 65 also so we returned your soldiers and in 1971. In 1998 we accepted the ceasefire. But after beheading our soldiers and constant Excercise of Thousand cut policy , now we too have little love left for Pakistan.
