Indian firms exporting toxic paint to neighbours (Bangladesh & Nepal)

Secondly If such is the case GOB should ban these companies ... i think they are selling same what they are selling in India

1. As it is Indian products are considered to be the worst in quality available in the market. Even our women are finding local sarees better. A lot of BD items like medicines and electronics are smuggled into India because of our better quality. Any item made in BD is better in quality than an equivalent Indian product. This market is fastidious and have been used to Western products for ever.

2. Where this discovery about our batteries has been made is baffling? We never ever heard of such things. We have only two battery manufacturers - Rahim Afroze and Navana. Both have huge export markets in W Asia, Africa, Asia and even in some European countries.

We know well that Indian companies and authorities had ganged up to prevent entry of Rahim Afroze into India fearing their excellent quality and competitive price would throw Indian manufacturers of low grade batteries out. It is possible they have been doing some mud slinging in your media which you picked up. Sorry it's totally false.

4. However, nothing in your post justifies sending toxic paint into BD.

I am 27 years old and in my life time i ve never used any bangladeshi product which you are boasting about... smuglling?? :woot: ...

But i have certainly used a more devoped nations called china s product and i mave some mixed feelings ...

Well, the brand new Toyotas and Hondas in Bangladesh's showrooms are all imported from India. Their quality is pretty good. Maruti Suzuki is also Japanese. The small Tata trucks are quite popular among small businesses in Bangladesh.

You should rather ask why is BD importing Lead paints?

And to answer your question Lead paints also have lots of advantages so its still manufactured in lots of countries.

Lead is added to paint to speed drying, increase durability, retain a fresh appearance, and resist moisture that causes corrosion,
Paint with significant lead content is still used in industry and by the military. For example, leaded paint is sometimes used to paint roadways and parking lot lines in US. Although lead improves paint performance
it is a dangerous and hazardous substance there are many regulations to control its use

I am against toxic paints.

But then the customer (nation or individual) has to take the call.

No idea of whining if one buys knowing fully well that the paint is toxic!

I hate this 'having the cake and eat it' whines.

Silly to feel that one should have the top of the line and pay a beggarly price.

I appreciate that Bangladesh must be helped with low prices given their economy and their aspiration to be 'another power in the East', but then the commercial companies cannot be forced to sell below their manufacturing costs.

India, sadly, is not China!

I am sure China can sell non toxic paint at cut throat rates for feindship, while painting their own products with toxic paints.

Bangladesh is so close to China in friendship, so I am sure China can bail Bangladesh out not only for paints but for every other need of theirs!

I am totally of the opinion that if Indian goods are not upto the mark, take everything from China!

1. Yes, the recondition car importers are complaining that these Made In India cars are low grade and not manufactured to environmental restrictions as their Made in Japan reconditioned cars.

2. FYI, Nippon Paint, Japan has started setting up a state-of-the-art modern household paint factory in BD. They have evaluated the low quality of Indian paints both imported and locally manufactured.

3. Kolkata or any Indian airport will never be able to match airports in Ma'ysia, Thailand or Singapore. We are small; we do not need large or flashy airports. And FYI, Kolkata has been rebuilt after 1971 literally with our investment. For a reference you can ask Mr Panwani, Sindhi owner of Htl Lytton which used to be a couple of one-room one storied blocks.Have you seen any Indian spending a dime at Kolkkata's Saddar? The shopkeepers find them miserly.

People in Bangladesh don't really buy brand new cars because they are very expensive. It is usually more financially feasible to buy reconditioned ones imported from Japan. Cars in Bangladesh are very expensive, even compared to other Asian countries - apart from Singapore.

Got any sources for your second point? BD already produces its own paint anyways. There is Berger and Elite Paints with active manufacturing facilities in Bangladesh. Marketing and distribution is also good.

I don't know about airports in India. My brother recently visited New Delhi, and he was impressed with their airport. I have seen and traveled thorough Thailand's new airport and frankly, I wasn't very impressed :hitwall:

I don't think the paint issue can be solely pinned on the Indians. Some folks from BD had to import it from India. There is also the Govt in BD which is similarly clueless about the the same. I wonder how much people know about the toxic level of these paints. Just like in India not everybody in BD can afford the varieties of enamel paint. Enamel paint can be long lasting, water proof, and also stain resistant.

How much your 2000 cr rupee stand.... 500 million usd at best... but for your knowledge in bd already there is a plan for $7.5 billion airport to replace the present dhaka airport. There are some confusion with the land but all will be fixed soon. n it will be the most expensive airport in the whole south asia. now you should keep up...

:lol: The worlds biggest terminal Beijing T3 cost only about 3.5 Billion USD. With labour cost 1/5th that of China, and size of the terminal no where close to Beijing T3 or the scale of grandiose for that matter, you think your 7.5 Billion$ is something to boast about?

Yeah you are right the following companies must be insane to export Made-in-India cars to Europe an Australia because STANDARD of BD is very higher than these contries ....:rofl::rofl:
