Indian firms exporting toxic paint to neighbours (Bangladesh & Nepal)

The school I went to do not admit Dish-Washers as student, but you can check around !!!

I don't think there is anything wrong with economically disadvantaged going to prestigious schools.

In my school, which is one of those exclusive schools, the second oldest English medium school in India, we had Anglo Indian boys who were foundationers i.e. paid by the School as per our Founder's Will. In fact, as per his Will, foundationers were to be of all religions, but the Church conveniently forget this aspect. The Foundationers were children of railway drivers, guards, mechanics and so on. The school polished them up and they became reputed citizens of India and abroad. Just one example since people would identify him, Cliff Richard, the famous English singer (Living Doll, You are my theme for a dream etc), is an Anglo Indian and from my school. If he did not have this education, then he would not be where he is.

The school darwan's son. Javed, is in my school free and he is my ward's classmate. I daresay, my ward is in anyway handicapped with him as his best friend. I would say, it is good that my ward is understanding what is reality of life and will be able to be a normal person.

 The worlds biggest terminal Beijing T3 cost only about 3.5 Billion USD. With labour cost 1/5th that of China, and size of the terminal no where close to Beijing T3 or the scale of grandiose for that matter, you think your 7.5 Billion$ is something to boast about?

Looks like some Bangladeshi pollies are going to be very rich.

In which world you are leaving??? Doha international airport is gonna cost 11 billion USD. So, 3.5 billion USD is nothing. The total airport project will cost around 7.2 billion USD but some are saying it include 2 other project an express way and a monorail to connect the airport to Dhaka city. Even if we take those cost in to account the airport will cost around at least 3-5 billion USD. N in terms of capacity and size it will be equivalent to Suvarnabhumi airport of Bangkok. N it will be built on Build, operate and on transfer basis n majority will be funded by constructor and already some companies has shown interest.

The problem arises when hasina government also decide to include a satellite town along with the airport which increase the land area from 6000 acre to 25000 acre and affected a huge number of people and BNP politicized the issue.

Here are the details about the project. N for the god sake do not compare your's so called kolkata airport with this airport as it is no where near this airport to be built.

Bangladesh -build-new-international-airport: The Bangabandhu International Airport ,plans $7bn airport | gurumia.com

The Bangabandhu International Airport :With the country?s growing air trafficBangladesh announced plans on Monday to build a seven-billion-US-dollar international airport to deal , an official said on Monday.
The Bangabandhu International Airport will be built more than 100 kilometres (60 miles) north of the capital, Dhaka, on a 6,000-acre (2,430-hectare) site, Civil Aviation Authority chief Shakeb Khan Majlish told media.

?We have done a pre-feasibility study of the airport. It will be equal to the size of (Bangkok?s) Suvarnabhumi airport, with two runways,? said Majlish, who put the cost at 500 billion taka (seven billion US dollars).

Opened in September 2006, Suvarnabhumi airport has a capacity of 45 million passengers a year, 76 flights an hour and three million tons of cargo annually. The Bangladesh cabinet gave the go-ahead to the new airport as the existing Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport formerly known as Zia International Airport cannot be expanded due to lack of land, Majlish said.

Detail states :
The government has drawn up a plan to construct the first phase of the proposed Tk 50,000 crore Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib International Airport in next five years under build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis.

As part of the plan Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) conducted a feasibility study over the last three months where they identified three possible sites for the airport.

Of the three, two are in Mymensingh and one is in Tangail.

According to the primary plan the airport will be established on about 6000 acres of land with three 9000 feet runways and all other modern facilities like Dubai or Singapore Airports.

In the first phase a dual terminal and a runway will be constructed. It will also include a parking bay to accommodate 75 aircraft, support facilities and structures including a large maintenance hangar, a fire station and workshop.

Two more passenger terminals and runways are expected to be completed by 2020, Shafique said.

Ministry sources said reputable airport building agencies like Italian-Thai Development Corporation, Murray and Roberts of South Africa, Penta Ocean Construction and Obayashi Corporation have informally communicated with the ministry.

The civil aviation secretary said the airport would be the connecting link between the emerging and developed economies in the East and West.

If I am not wrong he visited India last in early 2010. Said kolkata airport is much worse then zia international airport despite it is having a lots of trouble to handle the capacity due to small in size.

He lives in a country that is static and so dynamics startle him into blindness!

Delhi's new T3 terminal cost about 2 Billion dollars and can handle 34 Million passengers a year. All that extra money to handle just 6 million extra passengers? Sounds dodgy to me. Bangladesh is not some oil rich Arab country which can afford the luxuries or extravagance like Doha.

Terminal 3, a state-of-the-art and integrated terminal, is the world’s eighth largest passenger terminal. It occupies 502,000 m² (5.4 million sq ft), with a capacity to handle 34 million passengers annually.

Not in a mode to feed the troll... but as stiill you have asked for... kolkata, jaipur, agra, ajmir, delhi, fatehpur sikri. My dad visited couple of cities more mumbai, goa, pune, bangalore, hydrabad. All due to government trip.

All money will be invested by the companies that will construct the airport and they will operate the airport for certain number of year and then handover ownership to Bangladesh. Already there are proposal. Bangladesh has potential thats why they have made the proposal. Bangladesh may not be a oil rich country but the way it is expanding it has a lots of potential. It will see exponential growth when this power crisis will be eased by 2013.
