Very simple, brother, the instinct to survive is extremely strong and when pushed enough, people would resort to extreme measures. Hunger especially makes one take extreme measures just to survive. We often saw war torn populations survive on animal broths made of chicken feet and many such incidents. It's quite deplorable.

Bro my question was about these people in comment sections, cold, totally devoid of empathy. Actually they present themselves rather opposite of that, mocking, ridiculing the misery.

Haven't gone through the thread and responses. We all cope differently and denial of empathy is a way to shield from intense emotions.

Our socially constructed image and conducts can very quickly cease to exist the moment our survival instincts kick in. Eating some forms of meat i.e dog may not be socially the norm due to superficial reasons, but do you think any of this matters when your down to no other choice? Some meats are prohibited religiously, but I am talking generally. Another nation where eating dogs occurs in is South Korea. There was an article (for the western audience) that highlighted the subjectivity of this matter:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/feb/15/korea-eating-dog-meat-animals-food-west

In the end, when you consider such a thing, always keep in mind the concept of "cultural relativism" and the level of desperation of the people in question.

Bro,

I guess, For the sake of humanity, It is rude to humiliate a Starving Human like that, Shaming him, Using him to humiliate an enemy.

We have far better examples to humiliate the enemy, But these example should not be taken into account as we must instead feel saddened as a human for the poor and the hungry and the weak.

So Yours Kindly,

Exactly bro

These are two separate issues in my opinion, eating dogs out of hunger is the smart thing to do instead of starving, even from a religious point of view it is permissible to eat such creatures if you are out of options but eating a filthy creature like a dog or a rat even when you can afford better food is just crass.

Don't take my word for it, just look outside your window at the horrors of covid-19.

That is where cultural relativism comes in. Where we can draw an objective complaint would be where their consumption of certain food in a non-essential capacity is leading to epidemic/pandemics. This Covid-19 issue is one such topic, assuming the origins of the virus are truly the wet markets of Wuhan.

We all know it'll happen eventually, official confirmation that the wet markets were indeed the origin of this unholy rouge virus.

on the other hand you have exhibited kind hearted gentle nature that cries out at the sight of misery. Does that nobility apply to the poor guy eating the roadkill or extend beyond to the poor dog that got killed?

@jaibi - is it possible for such a noble minded such as A.o.S to feel only for merciless Indians or can they transcend to pitying the chinese who do that for a delicacy or even beyond, to that very dog that was volunteered forcibly to donate its guts nary a thank you?

I don't think anybody here or that person tweeting is shaming based on nationality or politics. I think the shame is intended towards the leaders(Modi and the likes)...for not doing their job properly...to the point that a man is forced into a corner like that...that he resorts to eating a dog out of hunger.

In any case...I haven't had the heart to play the video. Based on what other ppl are writing(who presumably have seen the video)...apparently there was food available for free that someone was pointing out to him in the video. Yet he chose to eat the dog still. So maybe he has some mental issues?
Despite economic problems...I think there are still social programs existing in India...where if someone was this much starved...he would be provided some sort of help. Which further leads me to think that this man indeed had some mental issues...and should probably be evaluated for such a problem.

@Joe Shearer could u shine some light on some social programs(like for example I've heard of Aadhar card...which can be used to provide subsidies and discounted food) available to ppl struggling financially(especially due to COVID19 lockdown)?

This is sad. Pakistanis should donate to India.
I pray that the poor of the subcontinet specially and beyond no longer suffer like this, current times are very challenging.

from a joking view Pakistanis are busy eating Halal Donkeys. once they are done eating I think Pakistanis will happily donate.
Pakistanis are among highest in giving donations. which is a fact which is normally overlooked and the state is mocked for seeking loans.
Pakistanis did donate for Indian prisoners who were taken by Somali pirates. they were brought back by Pakistan navy. but I hope that the situation in India improves that all such communities no longer need any help which are suffering from lock down due to COVID or state oppression.

Can we please not make a humane issue become a political one?
such news are very depressing and humbling regardless of the border or political divide they really hit us emotionally.
