indian eating dead dog due to hunger

Really sad, I wish I was still in school so I could show it to Indians who called Bangladesh as Beggardesh.

However the per capita income data is now giving them an answer on my behalf.

No one should suffer like this, if he was in Bangladesh or Pakistan atleast he could've benefitted from zakat.

Does this person have a mental illness?

Could be. The person in the car was saying that free food is being served across the street and he could go eat there instead of trying to eat the dead animal on the road. Later you could see the man gave a box of food and water from his car.

It is possible he is a migrant worker, I saw they were walking back home due as no transport is available during lockdown, perhaps he had a metal breakdown?

Dogs are considered dirty throughout the region, so not sure why he'd eat it, especially since the man in the car keeps pointing him towards good food.

As a first-worlder for the last 15 years, it really makes me feel guilty about the country I left behind. For example in Singapore so much good food in the groceries is simply wasted because it has reached expiry. Prime steaks, mushrooms, broccoli, aged cheeses, bottles of cranberry juice, canned almonds, organic eggs, you name it. All are perfectly edible even after a few days of expiry (the taste doesn't really change from a chemical point of view).

Every time I travel to India, it breaks my heart to see that they really don't have enough nutritious food to eat. In the cities, yes they have supermarkets, and big chain grocery stores. But you step into the villages, and it's a different world. Even a chocolate biscuit packet worth Rs. 10 (13 US cents) is considered a luxury item in some parts of rural India.

Can we please not make a humane issue become a political one?

You are a psychologist @jaibi what do you make out of such reactions and reason behind such mentality?
Thank you very much for the tag.

It is not clear why it was done. Did you want your question answered,"Is this all left of your nation?" Did you want confirmation that this is inbuilt into our mentality? Did you want me individually to join in to condemn 'this guy ... mocking the misery of his own countryman'? Did you want confirmation that 'these creatures are worse then animals when it comes to morality'? Did you expect a response to your first evaluation, about "good indian" living abroad, supposedly exposed to a good culture and values, those being intangibles not to be had in India in any case?

Perhaps it was 'all of the above'?

Or perhaps not; maybe it was the first thing that occurred to you on the name India appearing in print in front of you.

No; just be human. And perhaps work on moral aspect of your nation. It's painful as a Pakistani to see such videos; regardless of our animosity and even more painful to read such reactions.

Just be human? What gave you the opposite impression? Further, what work do you wish to see me do on the moral aspect of my nation? And which of my reactions - I was not aware of this thread until I was tagged - did you find painful?

I am vastly curious to know what this is all about.

Very simple, brother, the instinct to survive is extremely strong and when pushed enough, people would resort to extreme measures. Hunger especially makes one take extreme measures just to survive. We often saw war torn populations survive on animal broths made of chicken feet and many such incidents. It's quite deplorable.

Please don't take my comments specific to you; rather they are general. Not questioning your humanity, but the tag was rather to bring your attention to a trend in discourse that's been quite prevalent now a days; actually on upward trend.

About work on the nation part; it's not again a suggestion in literal meaning that you open up a morality teaching university tomorrow but rather hammering a constant reminder to your compatriots from within, to keep that humanity alive. Coming these things from Pakistanis probably won't work, they may listen to their countrymen, again not specific to you. As i said it's painful to read such comments, hence the tag.

Fair enough.
