Indian BSF have killed 2 Bangladeshis on Pakistan border with India in Amritsar saying they were trying to cross over to Pakistan for earning.

so one wonders why would they prefer Pakistan as compared to might economy India??

Lady, do you have any idea how many illegal Bangladeshis (Biharis) are killed by the Rangers while they try to cross into Pakistan from India? Some of the young men are spared while some young women are also spared, they inevitably end up in large feudal land holdings in Punjab Province.

I suggest that you refrain from passing judgement based purely on emotions and ignorance.

The fact is that illegal immigrants are not welcome anywhere. Has anybody asked the Americans how many Mexicans or Puerto Ricans they kill on the boundary fence?

I find the Bangladeshis saying two points very vehemently :

1) No illegal Bangladeshi crosses into India
2)Many illegal migrants from India are present in BD

I say mining the border will not be a problem if one is true and will effectively solve the second one. In both case Bangladesh ideally should not have a problem.

But in reality BD whines against this...why ??

Anyway I say dont shoot anyone, but mine the borders so that if anyone wants to cross over let him take a mine-pariksha (agni-pariksha ?) and if he passes it, then let the BSF apprehend him and again send him back for him to take the test again --- till he fails.

No buddy, active mining of an international border amounts to an act of war or a declaration of hostilities. Unless we go to war with friendly Bangladesh, mining of the Indo-BD border is inconceivable. Since a war with BD is inconceivable, so is mining the border with that country.

I am afraid, a civilian solution will have to be found to this civilian problem. We can not permit unchecked infiltration and neither can we carry the burden of more civilian deaths. After all, most of the infiltrators aim to cross over just to escape the abject poverty and somehow survive in India. Only a small fraction of the infiltrators try to come here to cause mischief.

True most come here to somehow toil and escape from the poverty of their country. But ours is not a European country with a negative population growth rate to accomodate foreigners. We too have many citizens below the poverty line and these people in my view are stealing their jobs.And we cannot wish away that small minority that cause trouble - IIRC the fake currency racket busted in WB recently was of BD origin.

Plus most of the border districts in Assam have become Bangladeshi dominated and this is causing much tension between the native Assamese and these migrants which may sometimes explode in the form of riots like the infamous Nellie massacre.

Our politicians who are supposed to find a solution to this are no better - they turn a blind eye to this (exceot make some voices) keeping in mind their political fortunes.

In view of all these I say let the BSF continue the way its operating, as crude as it may be, as I am afraid we have no other alternative.

All the points you raise are absolutely true. I have myself witnessed the alteration of the demographics not only in WB or Assam or Tripura but in places like Mizoram also. Mostly they speak the Sylheti language which is vaguely similar to modern Bangla.

You have to understand that the shooting is supposed to act as a deterrent. But it is not, for every person shot, 10 get through. And therein lies the problem. On the Indo-Pak border, the ratio of killed/apprehended to those successfully getting through is about 3 : 1 but regular attempts are made on there as well. The degree of desperation is evident.

After crossing the entire width of India, they find that they are not welcome in Pakistan. But generally by then it is too late.

Know this fact, Bangladeshi people dont speak in Urdu. And, Bangladesh is a homogeneous populations country not a diversified one. Land to people everything is homogeneous, more than 97%+ are bangla speaking rest of are the tribal hilly people. So, i should really doubt about ur quotation.
