Indian army to assist Nigeria on security, strategic challenges
The 17-member officials of the Army National Defence College, India currently on a visit to Nigeria has indicated willingness of Indias army to partner with its Nigerian counterpart to confront the national security and strategic challenges in the country.The Leader of the team, Air Vice Marshal I.P. Vipin, said in Ibadan on Friday that the officers were in the country on a study trip as part of their world tour programme.
He said the study tour was divided into two groups to visit two countries each, Nigeria and Russia, adding that Nigeria was the first point of contact.
Vipin said the team also commiserated with Nigeria on the demise of some security operatives who lost their lives in some parts of the country.
Responding, Maj.-Gen. Ahmed Jibrin, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, said the visit was a rear privilege that came at the right time.
He said that the Indian Army had assisted in setting up the Nigerian Defence Academic, adding that Nigeria and has since cemented important landmarks between the two countries.
