POKHRAN: Indian Army on Monday successfully test fired an advanced version of BRAHMOS supersonic cruise missile system at the Pokhran test range in Rajasthan as part of a user trial.
The Block III variant of land-attack BRAHMOS missile with deep penetration capability was test launched from a Mobile Autonomous Launcher (MAL) deployed in full configuration with Mobile Command Post (MCP) at 1055 hours.
Following its predetermined trajectory, the missile successfully pierced the designated concrete structure at "bull's eye" owing to its sheer velocity.
"The launch has successfully validated the deep penetration capability of the supersonic cruise missile system against hardened targets," a company official said.
The launch was witnessed by high ranking Army officials. Core Commander Lt. General Amit Sharma, who witnessed the launch along with GoCs and other senior officers, congratulated the operational Army team for the successful launch.
CEO & MD of BrahMos Aerospace along with senior officials from the MoD and scientists from DRDO and BrahMos also witnessed the launch.
The Block III variant of BRAHMOS missile has already established its credence in achieving supersonic steep dive with precision strike capability in mountain operations.
The Army has inducted two regiments of the cruise missile in its arsenal, while the third regiment induction is in progress.
The sanction by the Government for the fourth regiment of the highly maneuverable steep dive capable missile for deployment in hilly terrains is awaited.
The 290-km BRAHMOS flies at a speed of 2.8 Mach and carries a conventional warhead of up to 300 kg. The missile can be launched from multiple platforms including land, sea, sub-sea and air.
Both the Army and Navy have already inducted the missile in service, while the air-version of the weapon is scheduled to be flight tested by the IAF soon

Don't see why Indians always get so high whenever the word BrahMos is mentioned。
It is a piece of ordinary weapon that is partly built in India using outdated Russian technology。
India should aim for range 500+km and speed M4+，for that's what China has in its arsenals。

New Delhi: The Army on Monday successfully test-fired an advanced version of the 290-km range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which penetrated and destroyed a "hardened target" in the Pokhran firing range in Rajasthan.
"The Block III variant of BrahMos with deep penetration capability is fitted with a new guidance system and the launch by the Army has successfully validated the deep penetration capability of the supersonic cruise missile system against hardened targets," BrahMos officials said in New Delhi.

The article states that two regiments have been deployed, the third is being deployed, and the fourth is awaiting sanction. The fourth regiment is for the mountain strike corps. Neither the corps nor the missile (especially suited for hilly terrain) are ready yet.

May be you are right. But this 2011 article says that govt clears Brahmos regiment for Arunachal and it will be fourth regiment while 3 have already been deployed.

The tests I think are done to evaluate Indian Guidance system and to improve the precision of the missile.Don't see why Indians always get so high whenever the word BrahMos is mentioned。

Brahmos can also act as a carrier for other missiles, this missile can carry two or more air to ground missiles and which can target multi targets.
In the Himalayas(Hilly terraine) and urban environment precision is what is needed to hit the target accurately.
Hypersonic Brahmos is in the line which is faster than anything chinese have
