Indian Army test new Brahmos

Don't see why Indians always get so high whenever the word BrahMos is mentioned。

It is a piece of ordinary weapon that is partly built in India using outdated Russian technology。

India should aim for range 500+km and speed M4+，for that's what China has in its arsenals。

Sadly they still mistake YJ-12 to be a Cruise Missile.. Even still,it is struggling to touch Mach 3.

Dude they are already working on mach 9 CMs... or what about D-21 with mach 10 speed,1500km range dubbed the "carrier killer" ... apart from tht CMs like CJ-20,HN-2000 (stealth supersonic cruise missile, 4000 km range),DH-2000 (submarine launched cruise missile) etc etc

Don't confuse ballistic missiles with cruise missiles.

BrahMos-2 is meant to strike moving targets like warships. I don't think
there is any other hypersonic CM in the world that was designed for this?

Most of the missiles you listed are fanboy creations.

About deep penetration, it probably means the missile can hit targets
inside valleys & obstructions like that by making use of supersonic
steep-dive maneuvers.

Normal cruise missiles fly into the target from the sides, and therefore
cannot reach something located in a valley. This Block-3 BrahMos can
go high up, and dive down into the valley at high velocity, capable of
penetrating reinforced targets with the kinetic energy + explosive.

BrahMos successfully penetrates hardened targets in Army test

New Delhi: The Army on Monday successfully test-fired an advanced version of the 290-km range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which penetrated and destroyed a "hardened target" in the Pokhran firing range in Rajasthan.

"The Block III variant of BrahMos with deep penetration capability is fitted with a new guidance system and the launch by the Army has successfully validated the deep penetration capability of the supersonic cruise missile system against hardened targets," BrahMos officials said here.

"The missile system was successfully test fired by the Indian Army at the Pokhran test range in Rajasthan at 1055 hours," they said.

The missile after launch "followed the predetermined trajectory and successfully pierced the designated concrete structure at bull’s eye owing to sheer velocity of the missile."

The test-firing was witnessed by local Corps Commander Lt Gen Amit Sharma, who along with other senior officers congratulated the operational Army team for the successful launch. The Block III variant of land-attack BrahMos has already showcased its supersonic steep dive with precision strike capability in mountain operations.

The Army has inducted two regiments of the missile in its arsenal, while the third regiment induction is in progress.

The 290-km BrahMos flies at a speed of 2.8 Mach and carries a conventional warhead of up to 300 kg. The missile can be launched from multiple platforms including land, sea, sub-sea and air. Both the Army and Navy have already inducted the missile in service, while the air-version of the weapon is scheduled to be flight tested by the IAF soon.

probably it indicates some increase range ..... but any think less then 1000 km range could not be termed as 'Deep Strick' capable cruise missile ..... or miss reporting could be other factor .... just a guess ...

do you realli think indians will tell you the "true & actual" range of there missiles ever wondered why was the "official range" of bhramos never been more than "290 KMs"

Block-2 is a simple LACM with supersonic speed. It's in service.

Block-3 apparently seems to have a nice guidance system & seeker head.

In Ballistic missiles crucial part is re-entry because of high Aerodynamic heating due to friction at hypersonic speeds. Maximum Speedof Agni-5 is 24 Mach number(Mach no. is ratio between speed of an object to thespeed of sound). Hypersonic speed is more than five Mach number

Must be hell of an ICBM considering it is to be used against an A/C...?

Block-3 BrahMos is distinctly different from Yakhont. It makes use of all the modern
tech, features & abilities that didn't exist on yakhont which is Soviet tech. Plus
BrahMos is canister-capable, unlike yakhont which was premature.

The old Agni-1 ballistic missile can reach Mach 12.

Latest Agni-5 is capable of Mach 24.
