The boy was said to be from Slums near the army grounds so its anybody's guess if he was even literate to READ the restricted word in English.

Well if the boy ventured into the Military restricted area, then you cant indict the guy/guard for felony as it's his responsibility to prevent the outsiders from stepping into the military restricted area. Though, if he had been a sensible person he would have inquired first,but apparently he didn't & this is exactly what Pakistan's military did, when they shot a pregnant woman at Kharotabad. People with guns get swept away with the puissance of arms.

The situation is quite different especially in south.

Chennai is a vibrant town and is not a conflict zone. Though restricted the army-man should have warned him instead of showering bullets.

The situation would have been different in any other army areas , for example in chattisgarh or maybe in Jammu or North east, but this is Chennai, there are no security threat and a single boy stealing mangoes is not a security issue.

I can only summarize.... this so called WoT has made sentries all over the world trigger happy freaks.

Lets not conclude before investigation so far army has denied its Jawan was involved in shootout investigations are on.
however even if Jawan was involved he cannot be completely blamed he was doing his Job, unfortunate thing is the young boy lost his life.
GOI should adequately compensate the family and see to it that such incidents are not repeated.
