I don't think its incorrect but its legacy stands that ment for SLR rifles may be they teaching this due to anticipation of high recoil but Indian army needs a considerable time to operationalize new type of gun for their front line soldiers, becoz most of their infantry experienced 5.56 low recoil rifiles

yes.....M4 comes with 14" while M16 comes with 16"..... its a battle rifle not a carbine hence the std barrel length

no, as it turned out an upgraded modernised G3 is substantial and the competition rifles that include SIG didn't offer anything overtly substantial which warranted replacement. however a domestic program has started which is based on AR.

I posted 2 pictures from POF's exhibit...PK18 as a 7.62×51 mm gas operated AR while PK21 (7.62x39mm) is labeled as AK-103 even though no licensed agreement in in place currently between Kalashnikov & POF

Our private companies do with more small arms startups popping up but unfortunately, IA's top brass opts kickbacks over indigenous products

Just like how IA found out Tonbo & MKU's products when some NATO units were seen using them, only after which they were tested and orders were placed...Indian private defence firms should pitch them to local police, Spec Ops, Paramilitary & SWAT units initially along with foreign countries which might garner IA's interest (typical desi mentality)
