Indian Air Force Jaguar Fighter Aircraft to Get New Honeywell Engines for $783 Million

So the Chinese have built 100 jf for you... So why the Junks are still there.... What can these do against Indian air Force!!??

Go and learn about the backbone and IAF .. first kid... Then come back and talk here

Haha. Son, please first learn to read and count, and then come back to comment on a public forum that is not full of day dreaming Indians.

Pakistan has (or had) about 180 F-7's in its inventory. 100 JF-17's have been built and the rest are being built. That is much more than what India has achieved with its "indigenous" Tejas flop.

What the PAF can do with them is quite clearly shown by the IAF wreckage of the previous wars.

What? Why? It seems like a waste of money. India would be better off using that money to buy replacement fighters.

5000 crore Rupees is only 900 million dollars

900 million dollars buys IAF

5 Rafales
or 12 SU30MKI
oR 20 Tejas

YET THE IAF will re- engine over 90 Jaguars

this deal is actualy a good idea

useless fighters. Its a shame that india still operates mig-21s and these junk.
Fighters never fight on one on one basis or on paper. In real fights tactics are centred around a mix. And in that mix a small fighter like Mig 21 plays a very important role. Sometime read about the tactics employed by IAF in exercise against USAF mixing Su-30 and Mig-21.

Jags have a very important role in IAF. Deep penetration strike and anti ship role.

As for China not inducting JF-17 well similarly we declined the J-10.....what does that prove......each air force or country has it's own operational requirements.
Difference is you declined J-10 because of lack of funds. Your JF-17 cann't fly all the way to Chennai and attack or even Mumbai for that matter. Your airforce wanted J-10 or more F-16 but got none. So JF-17 is all you have. Its more like being denied due to circumstances.

So you mean to say India is doomed once Mig-21s and Jags have been retired as the replacements that we would be getting would be no where close these fighters.

Tejas Mk1A and AMCA will be replacing them more than sufficiently.
Actually two three very superior multirole fighters will replace Jaguar.
Not to mention stealth drones.

As things stand today Mig-21s are being replaced with SU-30MKIs and RAFALEs. We can talk about MK1A & AMCA when they happen. Dilli bahoot door hai. So in @Shajida Khan 's words the small fighter Mig 21 which plays a very important role are being replaced by useless SU-30MKIs and RAFALEs.

Well, to be honest all the tool of wars including these fighter jets are based on your threat model and your battle field and finally constrained by the budget.

Right now, India needs a sizeable airforce to counter Pakistani threat where we had been soundly beaten in the past. We need a mix of fighters so we don't fly top of the line fighters and fuel guzzlers like Su30 for every threat we see. We have a number of large fighters/bombers like Su30 some dated small sized fighters and finally really old airframes likes Mig-21 which need to be retired.

In this context we are :-
1. Retaining and upgrading Jags, which is nice. Pakistan does not have a Aircraft carrier so any battle over Arabian sea will have limited participation from PAF. Not to mention PAF is going to make JF-17 their backbone which is a short legged plane and flying a refueler over Arabian will be perilous for them for that plane will have to face both Indian sea based anti air assets and Indian fighters. For China to deploy any air craft over bay of bengal is again going to be hard due to distances and geography involved. So jags can do the job of maritime attack really well. We don't need to buy top of the line and newer fighters here. We can save money here.

2. Buying Rafale, Rafale can be our fighter/bomber of choice for nuclear strike. It plays a similar role for france. It is small, stealthy, nimble and modern.

3. Inducting Tejas, to replace aging airframes. It is taking longer than expected and this will be the bread and butter of our low end fighters doing all the point defence.

4. Finally for air superiority we have Su30 for the foreseeable future.

Haha. India is the worst case of "analysis paralysis" I have ever come across. They can't take a decision on anything! Just goes to show how inefficient a democracy can be in a 3rd world country.

And how did you come across that assessment? Pakistan already has the JF-17 program underway and we have produced 100 jets. As the older fighters age, Pakistan is replacing them with the JF-17 rather than wasting money on overhaul.

The JF-17 is more powerful and more advanced than the 30 year old Jaguar, which doesn't even have an autopilot. Just by dint of evolution, the basic configuration of the JF-17 is superior to the 30 year old Jaguar.

Please do wake up in this lifetime.

From what I've read on the internet, the Jaguar is under-powered, has older avionics which are only partially being upgraded, has higher maintenance requirements due to 2 engines and old age, and is only suitable for ground attack roles under escort.

Seems like quite a burden on a 3rd world air force.

Are you serious, jaguar as 2 engine? India is third world country because it was not in any pole like US or Russia as time of definition. In that sense, Pakistan was first world country since it was in lap of uncle sam.

Tejas Mk1A and AMCA will be replacing them more than sufficiently.

Shooting star is new troll account added by Pak trolls. Response will always derail the thread.

Similarly, Han patriot is Pak account in disguise of chinese flag. Notice how many urdu words appears in his posts.

Kid, So you didn't get the Joke!!!
Here it is
Making Jf as the bockbone of PAF is the joke....

Now coming to the Jaguars... Try to understand the role of Jaguars in IAF... they're only for CAS and ground strike and deliver Nukes.... they don't see the first action. Get that in your head first before jumping ohhh they have an old plane and so..... think about how old are your mirages and F7 and F-16 as well...

Ha ha ah so you're bringing 65!! where you had a very good fighters.. that's no longer relevent......

Talk about 99 when your beloved PAF watched from distance IAF planes wrecking Havoc on Northern Light infantary and its supplies

Wrong, the J-10 was declined as it never met PAF's specifications in it's original form.
Seems you have no knowledge about combat aircraft, the JF-17's main role is fighter/interceptor and not DPSA hence it's been equipped with BVR missiles. Realising it's potential, it has also been adopted for others role now and with IFR added, it now will have the capability to go further beyond borders.
And you should keep up with the news, the transfer of Jordanian F-16s was blocked by the US.
And JF-17 is our pride and joy, it flies and performs on our republic or defence day, not gets dragged on a trailer like some.

Son the joke is the IAF itself. The joke is the fact that India is still day dreaming. The joke is that when the IAF looses, Indians think it is irrelevant. The joke is that when weaknesses are pointed out, Indians change the topic.

Btw, we did shoot 2 jets and 2 helicopters in 1999, and the Pakistani casualties were not much higher than Indian casualties. That is when Pakistani forces were outnumbered 6-1 in Kargil.

Wake up son.

hahaha. Are you serious? You don't even know how many engines the Jaguar has! Btw, third world status is not judged by the alliances of the country. It doesn't make India a first world country now that it is sitting in the lap of uncle sam.

Yes you did... and was it your glorious PAF!! NO because they were busy watching IAF harass NLF:lol:

and blaaa... Mig-27 engine had the problem.. while Stingers at that height took down the Mig-21...

So anyway you only bothered to bring these issues but nothing on the topic...
Who is Changing the Topic now kid

My Second para on the last quote did give you a proper answer.. but you won't comment on it because you have none.... this is my i don't talk to teens
