Indian Air Force faces risk as PAK, China modernise airforce: report

.
Where was China in 1971 when India dismembered Pakistan into two equal pieces?

Why didn't China come to Pakistan's aid then?

Was China sleeping? ?

:lol::lol:
You nailed it buddy, in the 70' there was a book written with a title that said: " When China will wake up the whole world will shake".

Another try for more funds so they can eat more. If they are so concerned why is MMRCA deal still not signed.

No J-10B JF-17 will replace them.
J-10C if India inducts Rafale or an equivalent fighter jet, which will happen sooner or later.
J-17 will replace all the obsolete Pakistani fighter jets and will be produced in big numbers to boost PAF strength. Talks are about 250 in total, but another 250 can be build if required, most of them will be in block 2 and 3 configurations, with AESA radars, BVR missiles, antiship missiles, cruise missiles, intelligent bombs, Laser guided bombs, fire and forget air to air missiles...etc, and what have you in advanced avionics and electronic warfare. Some JF-17 can even be dedicated to this task (EW/CEW) if Pakistan and China want to, plus some more dedicated to PN.
This is the capability that Pakistan has wisely acquired when it has decided to embarque in this JV with China, it did not only acquire a modern 4th generation fighter jet but the technology to make it and produce it in any desired numbers, and the capacity to upgrade it continuously.

What crap do your writers eat or smoke before they write these silly statements that PAF can have air superiority over the IAF????
This is just a stunt so they can get a bigger budget. They have been doing these type of things for years now.

Well, stunts are fine. But does a sane Indian actually believe in this crap? People should have common sense to know what's propaganda and what's real about their country!

You do know that you are talking about indians right? Mention Pakistan anywhere and they go bonkers, everytime.

Indian politician said that threat is not Pakistan threat is China
Bistii:D:D

Air force development got Cancelled by the Lack of Funds due to very worse Economic strife and it has impact on whole Country not just Military within these 7 years and it had nothing to do with our Military Planning. On the other hand India has major Deficit in Planning which is why India couldnt able to Gain Advantage of 7 times Bigger Defence budget compare to Pakistan.
they waste too many time in Tejas and Rafale, totally in chaos.

. .
What nonsense. Typical propaganda by Indian right wing media

.
IAF might be buying used MiG-29s and more new Rafael's with local assembly.

Though Su-30s numbers have been increased to 300.

.
Another stunt by Indian media and some of Iaf guys to portray a dismal outlook of Iaf to gain attention and divert funds. Reality is Iaf is still superior to paf when it comes to size and quality of aircrafts at least on paper and with ever increasing Indian defence budget and procurement programs this gap is only going to get wider thanks to our poor economy and some scumbags in political ranks.

The article emphasizes on old f-16s and yet to be fully inducted jf-17s and rumored j-10s but ignores large chunk of fleet that requires immediate replacement in lights of mirages and f-7 and not to forget that we retired ancient a-5s just few years back. It also ignores large number of su-30 and upgraded mirages and soon to be inducted rafales while former being alone enough quantity wise to numerically surpass paf f-16 and jf-17 fleet.

Had it been only China centric it would have made more sense but involving paf had ruined the authenticity of this article but paf inclusion makes sense as Indian sees Pakistan as their bigger enemy compared to China historically and ideologically speaking. So the impact of inferiority from paf amongst general Indian public is far more greater than that of China. Nicely played

I don't understand why we two countries can't get along with each other? We try to make peace but India has always something in their a**. What do they want to show to the world? Why don't they stop raping line of control rules? Do they want a war? Do they want to take revenge? Fine,we will give 'em hell then.

Hope our government increases the defence budget. We should give priority to defence budget over anything else.

Lol......there will never be peace between Pakistan and india. Pakistanis and the indians hate eachother even far more than the Palestinians and Israelis do. In fact there is more chance that there will be peace between Israel and the Palestinians than there will be between Pakistan and india. Truth of the matter is that Pakistan's nuclear weapons has prevented india from attacking us. Absolutely no other reason. And despite what anyone says on the internet, the conventional military superiority that india has over Pakistan is immensely exaggerated and not sufficient enough for india to destroy the Pakistan state/military and achieve it's political objectives. One extreme example of this is the 2003 american invasion of Iraq. Despite Iraq already having a non existent military and the americans being the most advanced and powerful military in the world, the Iraqi resistance was able to inflict a fairly high casualty count on american forces not seen since the Vietnam war despite having every advanced weapon short of nuclear weapons thrown at them. The americans still did not achieve all their objectives in Iraq and their economy still has'nt recovered till this day. The indian military is not even a 1/10 as powerful as the american one and Pakistan is way more militarily powerful than Iraq ever was. indian war planners are well aware of this. Anyone who thinks there can ever be peace between Pakistan and india live in a fool's paradise or are extremely stupid. Truth is that india and Pakistan should completely seal their borders and abolish all contacts between the 2 nations.

BENGALURU: As China and Pakistan modernise air force at a rapid pace, Indian Air Force (IAF) faces risk without new western warplanes or the lack of local defence contractors ability to keep up with military needs in a timely manner, said a report published on IBN Live.

According to experts, due to its reliance on a fleet of ageing Russian-made MiG and French Mirage fighters, India was vulnerable in the skies. Furthermore, half of India's fighters are due to retire in the start of 2015 until 2024.

The Tejas light combat aircraft, which is India's first homegrown fighter, will be finally delivered in March, 30 years after it was conceived. However, senior air force officers privately said they were unimpressed. A former fighter pilot said that the plane was "so late it is obsolete".

"It could lead to humiliation at the hands of our neighbours," AK Sachdev, a retired air force officer, wrote in the Indian Defence Review journal in 2014.

He further added that an attack by China or Pakistan could stretch the Indian military. Defence strategists in New Delhi were asked to plan for this scenario, however experts said it is unlikely to take place.

When it comes to India's ties with China, the relations are still crippled due to a dispute over their Himalayan border which led to war in 1962.

New Delhi is also wary of China's close relations with Pakistan and its increasing naval presence in the Indian Ocean.

Multiple crashes
A paramilitary committee had said in December that IAF's strength has fallen below the government's approved strength of 42. There are 34 operational squadrons, down from 39 earlier this decade. Furthermore, in recent decades more than half of India's MiGs have crashed, the then defence minister said in 2012.

On the other hand, China is flying locally built fourth-generation J-10 fighters and testing two fifth-generation stealth fighter jets.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is upgrading its Lockheed Martin (LMT.N) F-16 fighter planes and also using JF-17 warplanes that were developed with China.

According to Pakistani and Chinese industry sources, Pakistan is also in talks to buy J-10s.

If it comes to war, India would still be victorious over Pakistan due to the sheer size of its air force. However, the slow modernisation means the win would come with heavy casualties, according to Richard Aboulafia, Washington DC-based vice president of analysis at the Teal Group, a defence think tank.

India is buying more Su-30s and upgrading other existing fighters to keep up.

"We do need to increase our defence preparedness," Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the opening ceremony of the Aero India airshow in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

A senior official at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) K. Tamilmani said that criticism of the Tejas was unfounded. DRDO is the defence ministry agency which designed and developed the plane.

"The Tejas has a safety record that is unbeaten," Tamilmani said adding it would provide a platform to develop more advanced fighters in the future.

Impasse over Rafale jets
The Rafale fighters are expected to replace some of India's existing Mirage jets and MiGs. However, defence military officials have said that India insists that Dassault takes full responsibility for production of the air-craft at a state-run facility in Bengaluru.

France has said it will help Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd with delivery schedules, however it cannot give guarantees of air-craft production at a facility that it has no administrative or expert control.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had said at the airshow that India will make a decision on the fate of this deal after March, when a committee of the defence ministry will deliver a report on the issue.

Chairman at Indicia Research and Advisory (a New Delhi-based defence consulting firm) Deba Mohanty said that cancellation would be "disastrous".

"It's a really tricky situation in which the supplier is unhappy, the bureaucrats are unhappy and the end user is disappointed," said Mohanty.

Over the last few years, India successfully introduced Boeing's (BA.N) C-17 and P-8 Poseidon anti-submarine aircraft along with Lockheed Martin's C-130J. Experts said thiss hows off-the-shelf solutions work best.

On the other hand, under Modi's "Make in India" programme, building a domestic defence industrial base is emphasised to reduce dependence on foreign supplies which led to India becoming the world's biggest arms importer.

As a result, the DRDO is working on the Tejas Mark II which is slightly larger than the original place and will feature more powerful engines and better radars along with updgraded avionics.

Local train jets, helicopter programmes and light transport aircrafts are also under way.

"People who fly planes want the best value for money, which means off-the-shelf," said Aboulafia. "People who want jobs and technology development schemes have different priorities. That's why the two groups don't like each other much."

Bunch of lies. Tejas is a state of art aircraft capable of thrashing any aircraft (on the ground) in the world and only one single Tejas gonna smoke out all Pakistani aircraft from skies (a scene from next bollywood movie Urr k Maarain gay).
