From the same source:

Despite a strong recovery in remittances, the current account recorded a small deficit slightly higher than the ADO 2015 forecast.

More from the ADB:

Export growth in FY2016 is projected to improve to 6.0% as economic growth in the euro area and the US strengthens. Imports are projected to increase by 13.0%, mainly for capital goods, industrial raw materials, and food grains. Despite the expansion in remittances, the larger trade deficit will likely mean a current account deficit narrower than in FY2015

Not very many 3rd world countries boast of such "current account surplus"

DEFINITION of 'Current Account Surplus'

A positive difference between a nation’s savings and investment. A current account surplus indicates that a nation is a net lender to the rest of the world, in contrast to a current account deficit, which indicates that it is a net borrower. The current account is the sum of the trade balance (exports less imports), net income from abroad and net current transfers; as the trade balance is generally the largest of these components, a current account surplus usually implies that the nation is a large exporter and has a positive trade balance. A current account surplus increases a nation’s net assets by the amount of the surplus.

The world (and sensible Indians in India itself) keep saying one thing (take care of the poor) but Sanghi fascists keep screaming about 'mera Bharat Mahaan' without feeding or clothing 'Mahan Bharatbaasis'. There is a reason. Unpaid Sanghi fanboys keep screaming about it without realizing that they are nowhere in this equation and are being conveniently used.

And Bangladesh is somehow doing better, right ?

Prevalence of undernourishment (% of population) | Data | Table

India - 15% Bangladesh -17%

Daily caloric intake per capita — Country and Region Comparisons

Caloric intake per capita:

FAOSTAT

India - 2459 kcal/day

Bangladesh 2450 kcal/day

Global hunger index:

| Tableau Public

(Lower is better)

India - 17.8

Bangladesh - 19.1

What is concerning is according to GHI, while proportion of undernourished in India went from 21.5% to 17% between 2005 and 2014, Bangladesh went up from 15.3% to 16.3%.
If India buys multiple squadrons of expensive French Rafale fighters - does that improve the impoverished and hungry in India living on $2 a day? No.
Does absolute numbers even matter? India only spends 6.5% of its budget expenditure on defense despite facing two nuclear armed neighbors.

And what's your excuse for your defense spending ( 6.23 % of budget expenditure )? Who threatens you? Myanmar?

If that 6.5% is $ 40 billion, blame it on the sheer size of our economy, higher GDP per capita & higher tax to GDP ratio

These purchases only lines the pockets of corrupt politicians who use nationalism as a convenient flag-waving brainwashing tool to gather their selfish percentages. Even the younger educated class in India have bought into this BS propaganda and are fully supportive of Nationalistic (actually Fascist) politicians who seem intent only to fish in these chaotic and muddy waters for fun and selfish profit.

Typical Bangladeshi BS....

India's Wrong Priorities: As Children Go Hungry PM Modi Buys Fighter Jets In France

And here comes another propaganda news article

If hundreds of millions of Indians remain mired in poverty and the young fail to be educated, employed and motivated, the consequences could be truly dramatic for Indians, but also for the world in the 21st century

There is no need for concern.

India's youth literacy rate : 90.2 %

Unemployment, total (% of total labor force) :3.6%

India's total education budget is $ 66 billion.That's 12% of total budget expenditure( or 3.2 % of GDP ),
While the defense budget,is a mere 1.8% of GDP.

A country that has 44% of its children under five suffering from malnutrition – providing the world with one-third of the total population of hungry children – can perhaps become a world power (if it keeps on buying state-of-the-art French fighter jets)

Sticking to a decade old (2005) data ?

Its 30%....and decreasing.
infrastructure is equally so; there is widespread corruption; and widespread disease.

India doesn't spend on heathcare ? infrastructure ?

Utter BS.
