Most of the killed were hindus!!! and raped womans were also hindus and thats why out of almost 10 million hindus 8 million fled to India where all were busy in fighting and liberating the country from the hand of the aggressor.

Regarding killing of the intellectuals many even say that was a conspiracy of the RAW just one day before the independence!!

self deleted, no need to fall to troll's levels

Hmmm....Now let's ask the Pakistanis and the PA that question! Meaning the Bengalis of then East Pakistan would have sent the PA packing!! Really???? :woot: :omghaha:

I must say these guys think PA as a Toy soldier or some thing lol and off record i think BLA needs help of these traitor bengalis :D

This is hardly an India bashing article that some Indians misinterpret it to be. It is in fact a celebration of Bengali culture - and let us be honest - it is Bengali culture, not Bangladeshi culture. I don't agree with a lot of it - Bangladeshi running "Indian" restaurants in UK still serve tandoori food, not Bengali cuisine. Most Dunkin Donuts in the US are owned by Patels - that does not mean that Donuts are Gujarati food. And British culture - was sufficiently influenced by all parts of colonized India - pyjamas are probably from the North for example. Bengal of course influenced the most because it was the first to fall in British hands - 1757 - Battle of Plassey. But other parts of India have influenced Britain too. The mistake the author of this article makes is to look at India - the nation-state and Bangladesh - the nation-state. India must be looked at a civilization which influenced the Western civilization and vice-versa - and whether Bangladesh likes it or not, it is part of the Indic civilization.

Very intelligent post, and very nicely put

Just one correction, Bangladesh (the land) USED to be part of Indic culture. They are not anymore. They were Indic maybe 300 or so years ago when they were still majority Hindus/Buddhists. Whether most liberal people like it or not, Muslim culture is very different from native Indian Hindu/Sikh/Buddhist/Jain culture (and I dont mean this in a bad way, its just a fact).

The only thing Muslims and non-Muslims of South Asia share is language, take that away and we are pretty different people (culturally speaking)...

Culture is seldom religious - it can be influenced heavily by religion, but religion can't be the sole guiding force of culture. Bangladeshis still have similar eating habits, dress habits - they use a Sanskrit script. Pakistan, of course is a different kettle of fish. The thing is that the Islam in India was heavily influenced from Persian culture which was not as intolerant as the Arab strain of Islam. For example, most Muslims in India still say "Khudha Hafiz" - Khuda being a general word for God - but most Pakistanis say "Allah Hafiz". Also, remember that Bangladesh is surrounded on 3 sides by India - that means external influence is limited. Pakistan of course has let just about everyone in - Pakistan always wanted to prove its Islamic credentials to the world which is why it continues to try and become more Arabic - Banglas take pride in being Bengali.

Culture is seldom religious, correct for Indian religions. But all religions try to influence culture, especially Abrahamic ones like Islam and Christianity. What exactly is Culture? It is a set of languages, eating habbits, dressing/grooming, common practices. Islam/Christianity directly try to affect all of these except language (which it tries to, but has not been successful).

Islam tells you how to dress, what to eat (so does Hinduism with beef), when to eat (ramadan), what to worship, how many times a day to worship, whioch cultural practices are good, which are bad etc.

In the case of native religions with less importance given to conversions like HInduism/Buddhism/Confuciasism/Taoism, the religion is actually formed out of a culture. Hinduism for example has incorporated a lot of the practices, One common example was that ancient Indians used to take baths in the Ganges, and that later got imported into our Hindu religious texts and now the Ganga water is considered holy for Hindus. Hinduism in many ways is influenced by Indian culture in that regard.

curry = indian
most ppl outside south asia think that

bad news for you is that, they are making loads of money while you are sitting of front of a pixelated computer screen, and they are smearing india's name,while... you are sitting in front of a computer screen

1. How are they "smearing" India's name if they are selling curry and calling themselves Indian restaurants ?
2. Wtf does me sitting in front of a computer have to do with making money? I could be Bill Gates and you wouldn't know it.
3. With respect your comments are without any merit

Wait a second. lemme get this straight? First they're making money by selling 'Indian food' and then they're smearing India's name?

Doesn't quite add up, Kachchi. Try harder next time :/

P.s. most of the Bangladeshi owned 'Indian restaurants' are utter shite. They should stick to their fish and rice :/

What is it with these pdf Bangaldeshis, people who come here for the first time will be shocked to see the moronic comments done by these guys.
Bharat a country which was 5000 years old with almost 20 Major languages,

Sanskrit is the language from which Bangla was derived and sanskrit is basically it has origins in North India.

Bangladesh is an in habitable marsh land and epicentre of Bengal is in India.

India was always a colony of Bangaldesh aka Bengal.

We should reclaim our old glory and clonize that one more time.... :)

:yahoo: I love the idea of an Akhand Bharat with kolkata as its capital.:smitten:

You should have tried Beef curry in Bangladeshi owned resturants instead of fish and rice. I bet you will fall in love with beef curry cooked in Bangladeshi style.
You Indoos have no clue how delicious beef really is...:smitten:
