v already bought the Mig29ks, and finalised the rafale, and a naval version of LCA is under testing.....pls not the f18 again.

Well actually it is a possibility as the N-LCA and Mig-29K are STOBAR fighters whilst the IN now has a requirement for CATOBAR fighters which the F-18E/F can fill but N-LCA/Mig-29K can't- it is likely though IN will end up going for either F-35C/Rafale-M.

Yeah they finalized Rafale for IAF not IN. Rafale is good for IN but so is Super Hornet, considering the future version of Super Hornet is very good and will be ready by 2015, so we can go for F18. I don't think IN will go for F35, its expensive and IN already has plans for N-PakFa and they are also sponsoring the aval version of AMCA. I don't think IN has a requirement or the capability to operate 3 5th gen aircrafts.

I read news in past may be 1/2 years ago that USA was willing to sell one of their retiring AC to India if India buy 60 F18s. If I remember correctly the AC was kitty hack may be. If USA is still ready with that India shuld go for it. No Indian AC is as big as any USA AC. So good time for India to act

rather than buying another old carrier its better to make one especially because we have the capability

People are hating USA AC !!!!! Wow. When old carrier is free or Just refitting charges why buy new one which will definitely be costly. Helicopter carrier ??? I don't think you understand the size of this AC. If we wish it can carry more Helos than a dedicated helo carrier. Plus we have only ski jump AC. It will be having steam catapult. That's new. And capacity to carry fighters make it Battle Group. We have air defence ships and medium carriers. So it's a good option if true. But does anyone know anything concrete about it or we are just building palace in air

dude perhaps u don't know but this AC was built in the 1950's...........it's very old and a rust bucket in all sense......no way will india buy it,and by the way i know what an helicopter carrier is!

For Bolded part I can only say GOOD

So are you thinking the Russian AC we are buying is brand new ? If you don't know refitting includes industrial check ups of all parameters. I don't have problem India buying new or making a news AC but first they are costly USA will unlikely to sell us new and thirdly we don't have the ability to built that big AC. And about steam catapult only USA have it. Even Britsts buy it fro USA.
Now if you are thinking India has more capacities than what I just mentioned. You are welcomed to prove me wrong I will accept it. And Rust bucket ??? Still that rust bucket is more powerfully than the most advanced AC of rest of the world.
