India trying to change demography of IHK: Syed Ali Gilani
The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that India is trying to change Muslim majority into minority in the territory.
Syed Ali Gilani in a 37-page booklet released on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha discusses the present challenges Kashmir faces and way out of them. He said that attempts were being made to reduce the Muslim majority into minority in the occupied territory. "No outsider could purchase land or construct house here during the rule of Hari Singh. But this protection is being eroded by power thirsty rulers of today," he said.
The veteran leader said that on one hand, India was holding futile dialogue but on the other, violence and brutality in the territory was going on unabated. He said that there had been more than 150 rounds of parleys between New Delhi-Islamabad and New Delhi-Srinagar but they failed to yield any result.
Syed Ali Gilani said that India had made commitment of giving the right to self-determination to the Kashmiris at national and international level but its cunning and deceitful political gimmicks were continuing for the past 64 years and there had been no flexibility in its imperialistic designs.
The veteran leader said that 746 locals and 145 foreigners were behind the bars in different jails of the territory adding that 198 of them had been booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA). He further said that challans were presented against 196 political leaders and pro-freedom persons during 2010-11.
He said that the New Delhi was resorting to cultural aggression in occupied Kashmir. "Attempts are being made to mutilate our identity through education, cultural programs and tours to Indian states," Syed Ali Gilani added.
