Looking forward to it. Unfortunately, this news provides more details about the 2019 mission than the 2017 mission. The details about the latter is almost nil.

So I googled. The mission is tentatively planned to launch between 2017 and 2018. So I would say, god speed. Wish Indian engineers best of luck. Make Indians proud!

Unsakred dont indulge ppl like eldalmari. They are a waste .
If you from technical side you will enjoy going into depth into type of engines and their working. India has the most complex launch vehicle configuration in the world.
PSLV . Ist is solid stage then liquid then solid then liquid . And ppl in the space industry are really surprised with its reliability.
This new isro moon lander might be preceded by a private indian moon lander. Its to be launched by isro .. PSLV... in 2017. ISRO Will be paid by the indian venture for the launch.
Personally i dont find any worthwhile use for all these landers.
India should instead concentrate on getting its heavy launchers ready and competing in the heavy launch market.
At the moment to launch a 4 t to 5 t satellite into geo , cos are charging anywhere from 80 to 150 million usd. Its a good employment generator.

I know i wasted a few minutes of my life replying to him .... i wasn't generalizing, i know many Singaporeans and worked with a few, basically they are all really down to earth, friendly and nice people, i have nothing but respect for them.

Don't worry, My gut feeling is that we are gonna succeed in 2017. Space is an area where we are particularly good and to the people who are saying that small payloads are a waste of money. Do tell me on which vehicle would you rather learn driving? A battle tested Volvo or your Dad's expensive BMW

I wouldn't be so sure if I were you, considering India's abysmal track records of projects on-time delivery against its grandiose announcements. LCA, GSLV-MK3, maned space flight, maned moon landing, to name a few. MoM is the only project that was delivered on time in recent memory.

Nonetheless, it will still be a great achievement since Indian is carrying on this project by its own now, despite a 5-year delay.
