India to recruit 89,000 troops, US $ 15 billion for chinese border

No it was the reforms that Gorbachev made that finally put the nail in the coffin

Perestroika - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gorbachev was right, USSR needed a political and economical reform, because the enormous stress it had during the second half of the Cold War that basically stopped their economic growth since the late 1970s.

But the problem is that the political and economical reform was not rightly implemented, that basically put USSR into its grave sooner.

If there was no political reform, USSR could perhaps last a bit longer, but the damaged done during the Cold War would eventually make them collapse, just a bit later.

This should be done on urgent basis ... Both on Northern front and Eastern Front ... chinese are upgrading thr military massively in Tibet ... New Airfields.... regular trials of Fighter Planes ... Deployment of MRBM and Cruise Missiles... They can move thr troops in 2-3 weeks to border with already in place roads and rail ... so India should better hurry up ...

Our Chinese friends would love it, they need more targets to shoot at...:yahoo:

Yeah it was too little too late by the time he came to power, people were already queuing up for bread and inflation was sky high. USSR should have adopted market reforms like China much earlier and spent less on defence.

USSR was doomed anyway. They only existed from 1922–1991 (LOL).

It is important to note that only half the population of the USSR self-identified as Russian. There was never going to be any true national unity, based around a sense of common identity.

Whereas in the USA, nearly everyone self-identifies as American.

Yep, they were born our enemy anyway, even they were communist, yet they never forgot about how to grab more lands from us.

Just consider how Outer Mongolia was separated from us thanked to USSR under Joseph Stalin.

That's why today's CCP never believes into this international communist brotherhood anymore.

The communist alliance under USSR during the Cold War was nothing, but a new form of Pan-Slavist chauvinism with red color.

Surprise ! China is not an angel as you thought !

"In future, India could be subject to China's hegemonic attention. Since India would be better prepared by then, China may instead wish to set India back now by a preventive war. This means current day preparedness is as essential as preparation for the future. A [defeat] now will have as severe political costs, internally and externally, as it had back in 1962; for, as then, India is yet again contemplating a global role."

Well, we are definitely not angel, but nor we are the devil that has been portrayed by the paranoia of your media. :coffee:

China always has more strategic sight, that's why we will never fail like them.

I agree.

Talking about "good" and "evil" in geopolitics... is foolish and emotional.

We all have our interests. The USSR was against our interests, which is why we went against them.

It is true that US never liked the communist, but when they saw the feud between China and Soviet Union, so they decided to side with the weaker one, because USSR was a bigger threat to them back then.

What i suggest for India is that you guys should become more independent by yourself, since no one could be trusted in this World.

You are not like Pakistan, because Pakistan never wants to become a superpower, but for you guys, the only solution to help your nation out is to become a superpower. So you have to learn how to become independent, while others don't have to be.

You are quite right, but honestly the concept of a super power is waning day by day in todays world, until and unless WW3 happens and that will still make USA the lone superpower.
Indian goverment has never said that they target a superpower status. The only aim for atleat next two decades is to remove
poverty and increase education. Yes in the meantime you will get to hear incidents like Vietnam coz of power struggle concept etc but that does not mean India is acting like a superpower.

There are four nations this World obviously need to become superpower in order to continue their future survival. :coffee:

USA: They are already a superpower.

China: A huge population needs to enjoy high quality of life, so the only solution is to become a superpower.

Russia: A nation with the largest territory in the World, without being a superpower, they will not be able to keep those lands one day.

India: Same as China.

Very true. All we want to do is improve the standard of living for our people. Becoming a great power is just a natural consequence of that, due to our massive population.

You got to love the dramatic evil background music when the Chinese army shows up on their media

Oh yeah, it sounds like Star Wars or something. :P

Not sure India wants 'superpower' status or will it be in the future

You don't need to be a superpower to make the lives of your people better

We won't even openly call ourselves superpower is just for the sake of our humility.

But quality wise, we are qualified to be superpower in every field.

When a huge nation with all of its potential unlocked, it is only natural that you would be on the same league with USA.

No you don't, but if we want to give all of our 1.3 billion a "developed" standard of living, that will automatically translate into enormous economic power.

It is unavoidable. And for a country like China, with a lot of land territory, long borders, and many many neighbours... significant military strength is a requirement as well.
