India to ink $4-b contract with Russia for four missile-carrying frigates

When the USS Fitzgerald, a Burke-class destroyer and part of the U.S. Navy’s Seventh Fleet, was mysteriously struck by a merchant ship outside of Tokyo Harbor in June 2017, seven sailors perished in the tragic navigation collision. The episode was deeply shocking since a whole series of redundant technologies and shipboard procedures should have made that accident impossible. But when a similar episode befell another Seventh Fleet destroyer, the USS McCain, in August, in which ten sailors were lost, it became clear that the U.S. Navy (USN) had entered into a period of rather severe crisis. After mourning our dead, these disasters demand a top-to-bottom reexamination of training techniques, command paradigms, technological integration and operational patterns, at a minimum. This proud and venerated service must, above all, avoid the temptation to find easy answers and scapegoats.

I think Russian ships are at least better than US ships

20 YEAR Old ---Kids Talking again----

4 Bn Is not just cost for Frigates ----

It also includes Service Equipment including 4 Turbines for each Ship as Spare & Weapons for Next 10 years (This is a Standard Practise followed by MOD).

This includes Infra Development cost and Training cost for 2 Sets of Crew(s)

Avg Cost wouldnt exceed 600Million USD
Along with lots of under the hood ToTs.Goa shipyards will also be revamped. :enjoy:

No point highlighting this bro, they know they are getting milked as usual. But their thick skins will never admit it, they will give you all sorts of justifications excuses and arguments. It's just a frigate for god's sake, China can build an aircraft carrier with that kind of money, and you wonder why they are still starving.
Most Chinese defense products are whether licence & ToT of Russian products or stolen US blueprints.
Go through history of your most equipment & see how much China spent adopting Russian technologies ;)
Now go back to your cave Chinaman & stop comparing with your tin cans with half mastery.

it looks more like a destroyer than a frigate
This is how a frigate is armed, you don't judge ships based on our ships. All indian designed ships are less armed with respect to its weight. Just google it how a frigate anchore 2000 km away cause havoc on syrian isis centres, just see the fire power of a israelu covertee with that of indian you will get my point.

1 billion US dollar each for a 4,000 ton frigate?

Even with ToT to build the remaining two in India, this is the Indians getting fleeced!

PS - Could not the Indian Navy build the hull and certain sensors like sonar and maybe search radar itself and import the engine and missiles from Russia? Or am I really not getting it?
I suspect som tot on russian cruise missiles, soon our nirbhay will perform successful test firing i guess.

Still 600 million US dollars for a 4000 ton frigate is ridiculously expensive!
India seems to be taken for a ride by Russia.

Nope, we don't even pay a license, we beg borrow steal buy copy innovate. Unlike Indians, we are not so 'rich'. Never denied the fact we stole, why do you think we can cut short our development time by so much? The pathetic thing is even after so much spoon feeding and TOT from various countries, India is still a basket case in terms of military tech. You can't even make a simple rifle let alone a proper howitzer.

Calling Chinese cities 'caves', have you even been to a properly planned city slumdog? Half mastery, what does that even mean? Good luck with the milking, squish squish squish....:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

We made all those things. But We don't induct things half tested..
Mr Chinaman

Dude, we already build destroyers at home.
Our docks are operating and full capacity and instead of waiting till we increase capacity, we are outsourcing the work.
Yeah you got it right, india is outsourcing work.

But still don't you think 1 billion it's too much for a frigate

Maybe the 1 billion price tag is for significant ToT and also to keep the Russians happy and give them an assurance that we didn't ditch them for the US

Wow....for that you want to spent the money of Indian tax payers ?? Come on dude..

Ukraine didn't provide engine for these ship if they commission in Russia navy, so it's transferred to India.
