India has been the recipient of billions of dollars in the past. India still receives millions from the US, Europe, Japan etc. It is only right that we should help when it is needed. Besides, it is not a reckless and wasteful gesture. It is more like an investment which gives us greater say in Europe. I agree that it is merely a token amount and that really will not go a long way in correcting the situation faced by Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain etc but it is a well meaning gesture and therefore it is welcome. well done India.
Be that as it may, I feel the experiment of the Euro zone has failed miserably. Lesser economies in Europe will be forced to opt out of the Euro zone sooner or later and revert back to their original currencies. The imbalances are too many, Only the very richest and most efficient of Central/Northern European economies will continue with the Euro zone. That is a pity as it was a good idea to start with. The financial meltdown of 2008 really killed it.
