What's new

India successfully tests anti satellite weapon. Low earth orbit satellite destroyed.

lol Name one military satellite at 300km please and then tell me India has the capability. Modi just gave up on Indian asset just to win elections by targeting an already falling sat at 300 km. what do you people think that world is reallyu stupid? Name a mil sat at 300 km?

Are you saying that a country that can target a satellite at 300km cannot target another satellitle at 350km?

.
Remember people if it can shoot down a satellite it can shoot down an ICBM . Today's technology you can blind a satellite through lasers this ASAT test is actually an anti ICBM test . Big worry for our enemies .

Yes I am because tracking SAT at 350 requires better capabilities.

Here is the height of ISS (please check google for reference as well) and India is 108 km short of it and Military Sats are way above that envelop.

Phudu bana raha hai Modi puray India ko lol.

lol just got the specifications of the Indian ASAT intercept. Is this a joke?
India intercepted the SAT in the orbital distance ok 300 km. The orbit of ISS is 450 km. I dont think there are any sapce satellites ever launched at 300 km orbit from earth lol. Indians have lost their brains.

Here listen to your own Modi lal. 300 km lol really what a joke. this is the best India could come up with? seriously this is a Joke.

MicroSAT-R launched in PSLV-44 has 300km orbit. Also, closer the satellite is to earth, faster its orbit speed. It is easier to hit satellites on higher orbits than lower ones. Only thing more difficult in higher orbit satellites is that bigger missile is needed for reaching that height. But the interception part is harder for lower orbits.

Another factor may be that India did not want space debris affecting other satellites. So, it used a low orbit where almost no satellites exist

Nope Sats move at constant speed at low orbit and 300 km is not even considered a low earth orbit.

We have the capabilities for tracking a Satellite for far higher apogee don't worry about that , you worry about India able to shoot down a missile at 300 kms in its pre-terminal phase of the missile.

Just a 300km high intercept. I wonder what sats use this low earth orbit?

LOL again.

at 300 KM orbit, the speed of the satellite is around 8,000 meter / sec.

Stick to tomato farming :D. LOL! Tracking SAT (what is that? You mean Sat) at 350KM requires better capabilities (like what? Guess you have no clue).

LEO is safe and will have very less debris that circulate in space. When Chinese launched an ASAT it caused a space debris that affected many orbiting satellites and have drawn condemnation. We played it safe.

Rather than worry about the external debt of the 3rd largest economy on the planet, you need to worry about the Foreign exchange reserve of pakistan.

You don't even have enough to purchase oil that fuels your economy. You are surviving on chinese hand outs.

Do you even know what LEO means? It doesn't mean we're talking about Lions here ok?

The orbit of any geostationary weather sat is 35,786km Military use orbit above that for decaying. if a military sat is at 300km orbit it will only last for 1 year at max before it expends all its fuel in adjusting it orbit due to gravity. India really needs education. Modi ko acha phudu deash mila hai lol

If Modi is announcing this on TV about ASAT, just before the fortnight remaining for election in India and thinking that it will boost the electorates after the Balakot fiasco and that ended up loosing the face.

Will Modi announcing it on TV helps, everybody knew DRDO India who has developed the so called tech. is Nehru brainchild and he has pioneered the change.

Similarly the Satellite shot down was an ISRO mission, again Nehru can be be credited with it...and boils down to Congress getting the good vibes.

Point is just announcing something, Modi cannot take the credit for such achievements if it is to be believed and don't think it will translate into an upswing for BJP/Modi. RSS pracharaks coming up with something cutting edge will do it for him...

The satellites weigh in quintals and tonnes and have several square metres wide solar panels. They are big enough to be tracked even at 1000km orbit. Most military satellites lie in the range of 400-700km.
So, shooting dwown a satellite in 300km orbit does make sense but also avoids causing space debris.

Nope Sats move at constant speed at low orbit and 300 km is not even considered a low earth orbit.
All satellites move at constant speed regardless of orbit. But closer the satellite to earth, faster its speed. The speed is proportional to squareroot (1/R). 300km is indeed low earth orbit in the lowest limit of the LEO. LEO is from 250km to 1200km

If true this is a significant milestone for India to have achieved the capability. But that is all there is. No space weapons or agression will be tolerated by anyone, specially the west. The test might even backfire on India if the west decides to criticise it for taking the weapon race to the space.

Pakistan needs not to be worried, this weapon is aimed at China. In worse scenario if India tried to take out our commsats, we have the capability to destroy ISRO's ground control system.

It's just a political gimmick. We already knew we had this capability after we launched Agni 5 few years ago. It's just confirmed now.
