India successfully conducted user trial of Agni-IV from Odisha coast

Now a days our missiles, our launch vehicals are becoming soo perfect. we plan we build we test.

its a better love story than twillight i guess :smitten:
hope we achieve the same feet in defence equipments as well

I think even k-4 is gonna be something like k-15 ( kind of a quasi-ballistic missile ) having same range and weight dosnt mean they are the same missile with just minor changes. A-4 is never gonna be used on a sub.

All S to S Missiles are compacted to fit into Subs. Compact version of A3 is in making for Sub launch. Same does not mean same as A4 inall aspect including length but they shares same motor (1.3 m) and same in weight and range and Payload parameter.

Warhead Strategic nuclear (~15 kt to ~250 kt)/Conventional/Thermobaric (FAE)
Guidance system Ring Laser Gyro - INS (Inertial Nav System), optionally augmented by GPS terminal guidance with radar scene correlation.
Launch platform 8 x 8 TELAR, and Rail Mobile Launcher.
Re-entry temperatures > 3,000°C.

Now, that spells blue murder!!

Key Features of Agni-IV

  1. 20m long, weighs 17 tons. (Agni-II is 21m long, weighs 19 tons).
  2. Warhead weight reduced from 1,000 kg in Agni-II to 800 kg in Agni-IV.
  3. Additional weight saving through use of composites on the second stage and nose cone. The missile is the first in the Indian arsenal to use a composite rocket motor.
  4. Higher thrust to weight ratio, consequently improved acceleration making boost phase anti missile targeting difficult.
  5. Improved range of 4,000 km against the 2,500 km range of the Agni-II.
  6. Indigenous Ring-laser gyro Inertial Navigation System (RINS) for better accuracy. The missile also uses a Micro Navigation System (MINGS) with the two systems complementing each other in redundant mode.
  7. Advanced avionics and navigation logic backed by a powerful on board computer.
  8. Flex nozzle eliminates use of fins and provides trajectory control even when the missile is out of atmosphere.
  9. High altitude motor in its re-entry vehicle (RV) allows for greater range or terminal maneuvering.

For Accuracy, 2 or More system work in redundant mode to offset error.

Can you please elaborate Point No 9?

All Composite A V is in making.

But this missile development consume most of the energy of DRDO that run with lack of human resources. We need to increase our human resources so we can simultaneously develop very important project like this and other defence projects

"The test firing was a total success. The missile travelled its full range," M V K V Prasad, the director of Integrated Test Range, said.
India today successfully test-fired its nuclear—capable strategic missile Agni—IV, with a strike range of about 4000 km, from a test range off the Odisha coast.

“The test firing was a total success. The missile travelled its full range,” M V K V Prasad, the director of Integrated Test Range, told PTI.

It was test launched from the launch complex—4 of the ITR at Wheeler Island, at about 10:52 AM, defence sources said.

A high performance on—board computer with distributed avionics architecture, a high speed reliable communication bus and a fully digital control system were used to control and guide the missile to the target, the sources said.

“It is equipped with modern and compact avionics to provide high level of reliability,” a DRDO official said.

“The state—of—the—art Ring Laser Gyros based high accuracy INS (INS) and Micro Navigation System (MINGS) complementing each other in redundant mode have been incorporated into the missile system in guidance mode,” the sources said.

The sophisticated missile is lighter in weight and has two stages of solid propulsion. The payload, with a re—entry heat shield can withstand temperature of more than 3000 degree Celsius, a defence scientist said.

The missile is undergoing developmental trials by the DRDO.This is the third development trial of Agni—IV missile by the DRDO.

Radars and electro—optical systems along the coast of Odisha have been positioned for tracking and monitoring all the parameters of the missile.

Two Indian naval ships were anchored near the target area to witness the final event.

The last trial of the missile was carried out successfully on September 19, 2012 from the same base.

But that need higher budget allocation.

DRDO is planning to employ 500 more scientist in next 1 year.
