India should learn a lesson from Pak army

Maybe he tried to do the rambo thingy- logical thing would have been to shoot him- you cannot risk your soldiers life just to capture one downed pilot-
Flt. Lt. Nachiketa did the right thing- surrender-

Do you yourself really believe that JonAsad?

A pilot, shot down in an enemy territory, armed with a pistol only,on a terrain the most rugged in the World, grossly outnumbered by enemy forces will do the Rambo thing??

unless he is pakistani;)

a threatening gesture with even a pistol would be enough to trigger a response-
just like a potentially armed surveillance aircraft atlantique was shot down- The analogy is the same both ways-

But a cricket fan is not armed with a pistol... when we can found small arms on his body why not a shot down pilot who carry a sidearm??

ALL of these are hypothetical scenarios . u cannot really make convincing argus based on what IFs.

Past events can be discussed only on If's and If not's- that a stupid objection you just made--

IAF guys are professional pilots indeed and was taught how to behave in such situations.

It is a tradition that Pilots carry side arms. (as well as currency of the enemy country in case he is able to escape)

Please dont try to sell me the theory that the slaying of a prisoner of war was a knee jerk reaction to the incident involving that cricket fan.
If indeed the cricket fan was killed, then it regrettable. But,since when did two wrongs started making one right?

A pilot ejecting from a high speed jet, normally goes straight to the hospital because of the trauma. It is more likely so,after being hit by an anti-aircraft missile. It is very unlikely that he will be capable of making threatening gestures at that condition.

Two wrongs dont make things right.... But saying My wrong was right and your wrong was wrong doesn't make any sense either....

may be, whos that cricket fan anyway?

Khalid Mehmood.... His body was received on the day we let your kashmir singh go....3 hours after kashmir singh release.....

The lead article is misleading. It compares two incidents which happened under different circumstances and also the behavior of the intruding crew were different. In 1999 the Pakistani crew made a dash for the border even after being asked to surrender while yesterday the Indians surrendered immediately as they knew that a light helicopter has no chance to escape.Yesterday's incident was most probably inadvertent because no one will go on a recon mission into the lions den in a light heli. The other incident was most probably a deliberate intrusion by a recon aircraft hoping to gather as much info before making a run.Furthermore now the situation is amiable but back then hostilities were at their peak due to the Kargil conflict .

The last time a Pak navy aircraft ventured ( supposedly) in to India air space we shot it down killing 16 Pakistanis. here is a brief description of what happened.

10 August ,1999
The French-built naval plane Breguet Atlantique (Breguet Br.1150 Atlantique) plane, flight Atlantic-91, c/n 33, of 29 Squadron was one of Pakistan Navy's frontline aircraft, used primarily for patrol and reconnaissance. Atlantic-91 left Mehran (Sindh province) Naval Base in Pakistan at 9:15 a.m. (PST). An Indian Air Force ground radar picked up the flight path of the plane approaching the International Border. Two IAF Mig-21 interceptor aircraft of No.45 Squadron, from the Indian airbase at Naliya in the Kutch region, were soon scrambled by the Indian Air Force. After a series of maneuvers—and a conflicting version of events from both sides—the two jets were given clearance to shoot down the Pakistani plane.[6] At 11:17 a.m. IST (10:47 a.m. PST), nearly two hours after takeoff from Pakistan, the Atlantique was intercepted and an infrared homing R-60 air-to-air missile was fired at it by Squadron Leader P.K. Bundela, hitting the engine on the port side of the plane. This resulted in the aircraft losing control and spiraling towards a crash at approximately 1100 hours PST and approximate location 23°54′N 68°16′E, killing all 16 on board the Atlantic-91, including five officers of the Pakistan Navy.

The incident was the Pakistan Navy's only loss of an aircraft to hostile fire in its history, and the biggest combat-related casualty for the navy since the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

An Indian military chopper crossed into Pakistan's territory today. Pakistan could have done the exact same thing as we did with their naval aircraft but instead they acted responsibly and any potential clash was duly averted.

The point is we always blame Pakistan for terror blasts ,kargil etc. But sometimes even an enemy can teach a lesson.

Thank you Pakistan for returning our crew.
Who ever wrote this piece of $h!t is a complete nutjob. He clearly doesnot know how Air Forces work.
1) Why the hell would a naval aircraft approach an international border[Land]? For recon missions, you have air-force.

2)

What was the reason for maneuvering in an International Border? After entering enemy territory you must abide by the rules of that country and respect the international laws. What do you think is the point of having an air force? Even after repeated warnings, what do you expect the enemy air-force to do? Mistake has been committed by the crew of the naval aircraft and were punished accordingly. Whining now is useless.

3) The Indian army chopper respected international laws and promptly landed even though they trespassed un-intentionally due to bad weather. There is lots and lots of difference between the two events and only a completely uneducated fool would equate both the incidents.
