russia realizes that india is being america's henchman in afghanistan. the fact is that india offers nothing to afghanistan and holds no pull over the ultra conservative predominantly sunni pashtun and pro taliban afghan population. the only little sway india has is over the non-pashtun ultra liberal and corrupt few afghnistan warlords whose days are numbered and are only kept in power thru a life-line from washington.

The China-Pakistan-Russia trio (along with Iran now) are offering india one of three choices:
1. continue to be america's stooge/henchman in afghanistan
2. accept the taliban as a legitimate power in afghanistan and work with them
3. bow out altogether

india really has no 4th option.

frankly, the afghan taliban need to be made a party to this. cuz at the end of the day, it is what THEY want is what counts. Let's face it, they are basically the victors and to the victor goes the spoils of war. there's a reason why China and russia want them removed from any blacklists. And they are in a position to dictate their terms after having busted the jaw of the sole super power of the world, no one really has anything to hold against them. india will eventually have to wrap up shop or accept a very trivial, secondary and an insignificant diplomatic role. I just hope that they are willing to take a more pan-Islamic and pragmatic approach to policies instead of a tightly narrow and a sectarian one.

well india will walk out regardless. This is just go give them a fair shot and bowing out before being kicked out as they were never a stakeholder in afghanistan and never will be one. i disagree on the saudi level though. In fact, they need to completely part ways with the saudi-promoted wahabi way of doing things. Just wont working; its not working anywhere else in the middle east, its never worked in Pakistan and it is only being forced to work in saudi Arabia at the tip of the gun.
