We didn't finance old sub, we finance to Akula II which we currently operate & another sub is in line. After 10 year that would be officially sold to India.

akula is an attack sub...u cant launch ballistic missile from it.. it doesn't have vertical launch tubes...may fire cruise missile frm torpedo tubes

Akula has several excellent advantages.Its nuclear propulsion provides it the 'on patrol time' equivalent of 3 diesel subs which partly offsets IN declining numbers problem.Its very stealthy and unlike most current IN subs can fire Klubs which makes it a deadly underwater threat.
But most important of all its meant to be the CBG escort sub,diesel subs are too slow to keep up with carrier battle groups.The akula SSN is excellent for this role.Our 2 CBG's each will have 1 akula.Thats probably part of reason why another will be leased with option to buy after 10 yrs.
