I'm not aware of what you speak (the particular case) but that is the law in India. Even in the new law proposed to be passed, marital rape is not mentioned. While I'm fully in support of the principle involved(in marital rape), I must confess, I simply know of no practical, reasonable manner in which such a ruling can be implemented, especially in a country like India where the social developments are not yet at the stage they are in Europe..

Simply because a Pakistani poster posted this article - doesn't take away from the fact that India has an appalling record of the way it treats its women. Just the other day, when the news of this girl was being flashed on a screen and the other screen in the pub played the India-Pakistan ODI - a middle-aged man seated next to us said that "women will now use this news for their own advantage". He was with his wife - it didn't seem to bother him or her. I told him he was wrong to which he said he was older and thus implying by default that he was wiser and had seen the world. Where in the world did he see such behavior?

Another aspect of this rape thing that has not been explored is the lower middle class male vs the upper middle class woman debate. Indians at the lower end of the economic spectrum accepted that there were some "sahibs" and "memsahibs" - who had a God-given right to boss around. I personally think that the lower class males sees these educated middle class women having better phones, going to multiplexes and malls, spending more money that they earn themselves and it hurts their egos. They probably grew up in homes where women were not allowed to step out of the house let alone boss over these men. No wonder rape is more common in the north where every guy thinks he is Salman Khan 2.0 - and changing the law is not the answer - the problem is not the law - the problem is the implementation of the law.

Until or unless india refrain from "ITEM SONGS" which mainly shows 20 men toying with a scantily clad female these things will continue.For e.g. Ask any villager ,what can he understand by watching such songs ..and he will summarize it as " that chick simply asking to be **** by those men" .hope indian films work on psychological uplifting rather than showing female as 'product'

i am against such songs on the basis that these use women as a product and glorify sexual abuse of women.

however my opinion is if Men are so weak and can not control their willies by looking at scantly-clad women then these men should be confined to homes and they should do purdah so they should not see women.

Agree with ur first line, but u should also know that many Bollywood actresses themselves plea to Directors & Producers of the film to atleast have one such song in every film, they get huge publicity out of it, in fact for some, Item songs are there Bread & Butter.

They will come a long way to understand that making themself a commodity is doing no good for women. its their personal choice but what is objectionable is glofying molestion on pretext of hot item songs presenting women as items who invite such actions themself . all the wrong signals

If a dude sees and listens to an "item" song and thinks he can commit rape - then the problem is not the "item" song, the problem is with the way he was brought up.

Apparently the old man was wiser that what you give him credit for. Women has used this to push for harsher punishment of 30 years for rape convicts and setting up of fast track-courts to decide the cases within three months.

Lesser mortals and victims of other crimes like murder etc.. still get to have not so fast track courts that will dispense justice in 10-30 years.

Mythology is related to God, even criminals have faith in God.

But these Bollywood movies are all useless stuff. The illiterate, unemployed slum ppl are the biggest viewers of such material.

The Fevicol song is really stupid, it portrays a girl to be a tandoori and inviting men to have her with alcohol. What effects will this song have on illiterate unemployed poor ppl have whose only job is multiply their population, these are ppl who take to crimes.
