As per my view, currently barak-8 missiles(developed by Israel and India) which is improved version of isareli barak-1, may be able to detect and destroy brahmos.

Israel may be developing this missile to counter russian made Yakhont(or P 800 oniks on which BrahMos is based) which were bought by syria in 2011.

well there are many systems that can intercept CM even Brahmos .. Israel is very good in making SAM and they proved their worth with Iron Dome .. but I think Aster III is also very Good system

Engine,Performance and Key Features
BrahMoS is powered by two stage (first stage:solid propellant booster and Second Stage:liquid fueled)Ramjet engine .As it considered the fastest missile it has a speed of 2131.4 Mph (3430.1 km/h) It has operational range of 300-500 Km.Brahmos has the capability of attacking surface targets by flying as low as 5 metres in altitude and the maximum altitude it can fly is 14000 metres. It is universal for multiple platforms. It is based on ” fire and Forget” principle of operation .

Brahmos Missile is a supersonic cruise missile and can be used against ship and land targets. It has a range of upto 300 kms. The missile is uniquely configured for installing in ships, submarines & aircraft and on ground vehicles. It has been flight tested twice during June 2001 and April 2002 meeting all mission objectives.

New Delhi: Citing security concerns, the government today refused to share in the Lok Sabha the number of Brahmos cruise missiles deployed in the country.

Responding to a question on the number of Brahmos missiles used by Russia, the number deployed in India and the quantum of investment by the two nations, Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre said the Indo-Russia joint venture was a big success for India.

"Brahmos is a state-of-the-art supersonic cruise missile, which is a universal missile capable of being launched from multiple platforms...

"As regards the details that he has asked, I do have all the details. But due to security reasons of the country, I would not like to divulge," he said during the Question Hour.

Responding to a question on the need for uninterrupted supply of spares from Russia for military equipment, he said the issue has been discussed between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"As a result of that, there was an inter-governmental military industrial conference held on March 17 and 18. It was primarily aimed at long term supply agreement between Russian original equipment manufacturers and the Indian armed forces and companies for spare parts of different platforms and formation of joint ventures and partnerships between Indian vendors and Russian original equipment manufacturers," he said.


The first agreement was for long-term support for Sukhoi 30 MKI fleet, he said.

The Indian Army on Tuesday successfully test fired an advanced version of the Brahmos land-attack cruise missile in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, revalidating the weapon’s strike capability.

The land-to-land configuration of Brahmos missile was launched from a mobile autonomous launcher (MAL).

The test firing of the block-III version of the missile demonstrated the weapon’s unmatched lethality of hitting the centre of a designated target with “bull’s eye” precision, a senior army officer said here.

He said the supersonic cruise missile successfully hit the land-based target with desired precision in a “top attack configuration”, meeting all flight parameters in a copybook manner.

The test firing involved high level and complex manoeuvring by the missile, said the official.
