India has revived its five-decade-old intelligence and combat unit in order to keep a tab on Chinese maneuvers in countries like Nepal and Bhutan. The separate unit will be part of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), which guards the borders with the two countries.

New Delhi (Sputnik) — India's Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to deploy the full-fledged intelligence unit along the border of Nepal and Bhutanto keep tabs on infrastructure development and other activities by China in these countries. More than 1,000 specially trained troops will be part of the SSB unit which will play a dual role for the government. Apart from intelligence gathering, these troops will also be trained in combat.

In December last year, Sputnik had reported that the Indian government is considering to revive the 50-year-old SSB intelligence wing, following increased Chinese activities in New Delhi’s extended neighborhood. The action was initiated after SSB had raised concerns before the government about China's project development and other activities across the border.

"The border [with Nepal] is very sensitive and the influence of elements of various types in these areas has mushroomed… we have proposed to have our full-fledged intelligence wing in the force," Archana Ramasundaram, Director General, Sashastra Seema Bal, said back then.

The decision to raise combat intelligence services is based on the 54-year-old Special Service Bureau which worked on the principle of "recruit locally, train locally and deploy locally." The new service will have a larger objective than its predecessor and it is most likely that the forces belonging to this service would be deployed in the neighboring countries in question.

1.China blocks us in NSG and blocks us at UN regarding mahsood azhar, yet hopes we will help them with OBOR.Funny attitude.

2.It takes no note of our objections regarding passage through disputed territory, yet expects us to join project and admit we don't care about our own sovereignty.

3.OBOR has no significant projects inside India. It aims to expand chinese strategic and economic presence in India's smaller neighbours Sri lanka,Bangladesh,Nepal,Myanmar and Bhutan.Except Nepal none of these can be reached by land without going through Indian territory.Even in Nepal case railroad construction would not be economically feasible unless it could be expanded to go into indian territory where the population and money is.On sea maritime OBOR is not useful without access to indian ports.China wants deepened access to huge indian market to dump its cheap products on a mass scale. Also it has potential to be a huge debt trap -they have done this in africa,in sri lanka hambantota is a gigantic failure and govt is debt ridden to china and forced to give them land. The same case in tajikistan where government had to give away 11,000 sq km of land because it cant pay debt.Pakistan already gave away gwadar more or less. Now they are building coal plants in pakistan at high interest rates which the world is phasing out,and solar is cheaper anyway. Its not a win win its china win only. That is why european countries refused to sign agreement in OBOR summit. We have no intention of being indebted to china, increase the dumping of more cheap chinese goods in indian market, give them access to south asia so they can strategically encircle us or selling away national land and property in debt payment to china.

So it is for these reasons we have not entered OBOR.

your sovereignty is just your unwarranted concerns... no one willing to harm your sovereignty... all regional countries want strong economy, connectivity... U.S already denied to mediate between china & India regarding Sikkim.. Myanmar, Bangladesh also not taking Indian side in this issue.. you are going to isolate your self in the region..
no one can undo your doubtful reservations regarding your sovereignty.. there is no treatment of your unwarranted doubts..

We can't be isolated ,simply because our economy and market is larger than all the rest target countries(except europeans which refused to sign) combined in OBOR.
2ndly,we have central location and none of the small countries in south asia can be reached without going through India. If india doesn't agree myanmar and bangladesh and sri lanka may go to OBOR,but it has no practical value as they can't be connected to china without going through India.
Without India OBOR is restricted to poor countries of central asia, pakistan and parts of middle east.EU refused sign agreement despite sending representatives.Japan doesn't care.Without Europe and India OBOR is a poor man's flop.It will only end up making a colony of smaller countries with debt trap.

China can do what ever it want to do with OBOR, unless it passes through the area claimed by India. Is't it simple ?

All the threats been given in for last 4 weeks... doesn't it shows like someone has put a foot on the tail of a snake.. ? and what you expect from snake? it will not bite if it could ?

Intentions are very clear what is red policy... Grab what ever you can before the things get too hot.

When will you guys see simple facts and stop falling for them thinking emotionally.
Even your CPEC,tell me what's 11 billion for roads under CPEC for.you guys think the road network will help Pakistan start the engine for development and what do Chinese think of CPEC ,they think the roads will give them alternate route to transport their goods and connecting their least developed areas .both have different reasons for CPEC.i am not even talking about after effects like Chinese dumping their goods in Pakistan.
Won't you see it's important for China as much it's important for Pakistan.now see what's happening,China is providing the money for the project and Pakistan will payback that with returns.so China dsnt pay but still gets the road that's higher than mountain friend for you.
I will say give the project 6-7 years and if it dsnt bring the results as expected by Pakistan from the project that will be the time pakistani's will see the beginning of what's called debt trap.

once again the problem is your unwarranted concerns... you are creating mess rather then joining us.. and to be honest you cant achieve what you call "the area claimed by India". Pakistan also Claim J&K.. what's important that who's controlling the area so thumping chest would not do any job for you. if you cant defeat your enemy better to join them for your own prosperity.. once you accept to join us we dont have any problem to give you the access of Afghanistan via Pakistan, otherwise you could not have stopped us becoming a Necular power, it's beyond your limit dear.

No one should listen to any body especially if some one who even does not invest a single penny in your country for your prosperity.. and you expect me to listen you regarding CPEC ?

Indian request for over land route to Afghanistan was far before CPEC came onto the papers...Therefore, if you want to put conditions that first accept the illegal occupation as legal then it was already offered to you that accept LOC as IB but no....
Overland route to AFG CAR is just a route for India and there can be alternate solutions for the same, but CPEC is not just a project from Pakistan. Geopolitical Negotiations are done on how much the other side has to loose, if not on how much I can gain.

India right now is happy with status quo.. with every passing day the adversary will have more to loose ...

CPEC is just new name Pakistan knew the strategic location since day one.. there was only APTTA, but not any transit Agrement among Afghanistan-India-Pakistan.. all are only talks, no MOU implementation regarding India so far.
APTTA is 1965 Old Agrement which modified in 2010, Afghanistan became increasingly dangerous as a transit corridor, so China, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan in 1995 devised a separate treaty named the "Quadrilateral Agreement on Traffic in Transit" (QATT), and signed the treaty in 2004

i am not going to tell you the history here because it's out of topic. Port Construction was started in 2008 by Pakistan itself. America & China both wanted to develop the Port but China got Deal. So in short there is deal between china & Pakistan before Considering the access of India.

Lolz you want us to accept LOC as IB.. ask from Kashmiris if they want it we dont have any problem. but declaring LOC as IB is not a solution in long term. because kashmiris people perhaps will keep on demanding freedom. what India should do that provide necessity, jobs to kashmiri people. most of kashmiri youth are jobless and you see them as an enemy, and honestly your this behavior is creating more difficulties for you.

Then why China is investing in BCIM corridor? Btw we're already taking measures anyway

lolz what do you mean if china is investing in BCIM.. so according to you it means that china can capture silliguri Corridor?

OBOR is all smoke and mirrors. Without Russia and Iran China cannot reach Europe and Middle East.

thanks we know about it.. but do you know what's happening between Iran, China, Russia and Pakistan? i think it's really easy for you to underestimate anyone.
Iran Offered Pakistan to join Chabahar Port with a status of sister port, and now balls is in pakistan court we denied it for some reason and can accept any time, Russia is investing 10 billion dollar in Iran more then Indian investment in Iran. Russia & China strategically working together on OBOR.. china hired Black water for this project to safeguard. etc etc

If China really wanted to capture Siliguri corridor then they won't a make way out through Bangladesh, is that too hard to think?
