India pushes for export of military arms and ammunition

The Indian Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) is pushing to improve its visibility and market overseas.

In past 3 years, the OFB has exported to US, Italy, Belgium, Israel, Singapore, Chile, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Botswana, Nepal, Turkey, Thailand, Kenya, Bangladesh, Aden and Suriname.

What items did they supply to Bangladesh? I don't know of any tender that has been given to the Indian Ordnance Factories.

Yaar look at the article, the tender must have been small, you might have missed it. We are talking about OFB not other big. India has sold some big defence products like helicopters also but they are not listed here because we are talking about OFB.

The news about Saudi Arabia is incorrect as the Saudi Gov issued a clarification stating the tender went to POF of Pakistan not India. The agent who was handling the Indian deal is my friend and I know very well that they lost the bid in qualification round. Now a days he is working on building connections to import from Pakistan and I has assisted him through few of my close associates on my recent trip to PK.

Also when PoF exported ammunition to UK police, Indian press ran false articles criticizing the supposed "poor quality" and non-existent comments by UK arms importers which made UK government to issue a public rebuttal stating that ammunition imported from Pakistan was on par with British standards and quality regulations and all such accusations are false.

i know it's a tiny amount in defence world but at least we started....

I asked around, but there has been NO purchase from the Indian Ordnance Factory in the last 3 years as stated, Not even a single bullet. We don't have much indian equipment left (most stuff was from the liberation period, that have been mothballed), all our stuff are either Chinese, UK or other European, and squad level eq is supplied from our own ordnance factories.

If you can provide some information that has escaped me please show me, instead of say that it must have been so small that there is no record. ANY PURCHASE is recorded, but nothing was bought from india since 1983.

(Anyone that has gone through DSCSC, will know the policy of not purchasing indian eqp.)
