Islamabad: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday said the suffering of Kashmiris due to escalating Indo-Pak tensions "can no longer be ignored" as he called on the two countries to resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue.

Erdogan, who arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday, made the remarks after he held detailed talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Addressing a joint press conference, the Turkish President told the media that during his one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Sharif they talked about the situation in Kashmir.

"Our brothers and sisters in Kashmir are suffering because of escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) and Kashmir, which can no longer be ignored," Erdogan said.

He stressed on the importance of dialogue to address the thorny issue.

"The Kashmir issue needs to find a resolution for itself following a dialogue between Pakistan and India," Erdogan said.

He thanked Pakistan for siding with Turkey's elected government during a failed coup bid earlier this year.

"Soon after the failed coup attempt in Turkey, I received a phone call from President Mamnoon Hussain and we discussed a possible response to the development," he said.

Erdogan also lambasted what his government has termed the Fethullah Terror Organisation (Feto) for allegedly supporting the coup and said it was a threat to other countries.

"We are in the process of warning all of our friends and countries (against Feto) across the globe with whom we have solidarity," he said.

Erdogan also welcomed Pakistan's decision to expel dozens of teachers and staff of Turkish schools in Pakistan which were controlled by Fetullah.

lol, wow. It's funny just how little you actually know about both Turkey and geopolitics.

Cool. I still feel they should mind their business.

A nation that carried out one of the biggest genocides in recent history has no moral footing to lecture others. Brothers, sisters, tears, blood or not.

I've clarified further. Specific to the Turks.
But the sentiment remains the same.

First of all, Turkey is far more secular successful than India is, it is also a lot more development, so calling it a hell hole puts India into an even worse position.

Second, your clarification doesn't matter, because in the end, you say Turkey should stay away, because you believe (and rightly so) that zero involvement of third parties will result in India coming out stronger, and Pakistan weaker.

You won't admit it, but let's be honest, that is the truth of the situation. Third party mediation would surely harm India's stance on Kashmir.

[Edit]: Every nation has blood on their hands, claiming Turkey has no moral authority doesn't negate India's own bloody history.

[Edit 2]: Forgive my grammar, I was half asleep when I wrote this.

There is no scope for third party mediation.

In fact, as has been demonstrated increasingly over the past decade, we see no scope for talks or mediation at all.

The thread was specific to Turkey, and it (the source of pontification) was so ridiculous, that it just deserved a slap down. Which is all that it was. Do not read more than that into it. Pakistan is going to have to fight for Kashmir if it wants it. And it is going to get it over our dead bodies.
