Ok mate..........truely speaking .where I live (Punjab)...........a person is considered poor if doesnot have a car, cannot eat at resturant once a week, cannot afford ravens googles ,and have only a single bike for whole family.:sniper:

this is we consider (not govt. .......according to govt................they are unable to find poor punjabi)

if you try to come to reality............7 states can be considered poor.
States like Gujarat are very close to what we call fully industralized.

Cities like Chandigarh are even regarded as world heritage city and city Beautiful and palnned area in unplanned continent.:chilli:

Bovine poop at best .If I was a pakistani I would not have posted that article for the fear of becoming a laughing stock.More looks like a rant than an analysis at best.He forgets to mention bombs popping in the middle of mosques and processions.Any way I highly doubt the metrics and the authors credentials at best

Actually, I think you need to get your facts straight. Please review the following. This is not my data. This is from the US national counter terrorism center.

Foreign customers jittery as US National Counterterrorism says India #2 behind Iraq in terror attacks | TechLahore

"A report prepared by the National Counter-terrorism Center in Washington touches on the scope of the violence that has been going on in India, which until now, has escaped coverage in most western media outlets. According to the numbers outlined in this report, India experienced more violent deaths due to terrorist incidents than Afghanistan. In fact, the country is behind only Iraq in this respect."

:azn:Indian friends Please dont get pulled into the hook of such posts.. If India bashing makes some one happy and lets him forget the problems of the land he lives in, why should we deny that drop of pleasure to him..

We have issues.. we know them and will fix them. Each of the issues has shown a significant improvement over last 20 years.. Another decade or so, and most of these will not exist. It will be a'musing to see at that time what the state of affairs is in the a'musing Land

so chill

The thread has a nice title for promoting the author's blog.

How can we compare Pakistan with India??

•Pakistan’s GDP is 1/10th of India’s GDP. It is even less than that of Maharashtra. Every year India is adding the amount of Pakistan’s GDP to its economy.

•Can we compare Pakistan and India in Space Technology?

•What about the number of doctors, engineers and Management graduates? Is India and Pakistan comparable?

•If we talk about the number of Universities, Pakistan will stand nowhere in comparison to India

•The less we talk about the Railways the better. If anybody want they can check the railway network of India and compare it with Pakistan

let them be happy by reading such news clips...its the only thing left you know...

Look at the per capita numbers again. Pakistan is about the same or better than India in per capita gdp, income, energy use, transportation, infrastructure etc.

As to space technology, India has no business to be in space, given the fact that one out of every two hunger persons is an Indian (World Hunger data), and two-thirds of its citizens still defecate in the open (UNICEF-WHO joint study), and one out of every three illiterate adults in an Indian, etc etc. Your priorities are all screwed up.

Here's a Guardian report making this point:

Britain will spend £825m over the next three years in aid to India, a nuclear-armed power that sent a spacecraft to the moon last month, to lift "hundreds of millions of people" out of poverty, the secretary of state for international development said yesterday.

Douglas Alexander, the first cabinet minister to visit India's poorest state Bihar, said that despite "real strides in economic growth" there were still 828 million people living on less than $2 a day in India.

Critics argue British taxpayers should not be devoting the largest single sum in its aid budget to one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. They say, in terms of national wealth, as measured by purchasing power parity, India's economy is larger than Britain's. The IMF's figures put the Indian economy at $3tr (£2tr) compared with Britain's $2.2tr.

One of the key reasons for India's backwardness is a system of caste Apartheid.
Now that you have discovered 'one of the key reasons' for our backwardness (thank you for revealing the secret that GoI has so successfully kept hidden from us - not from your sharp analytical mind though), what do you think are reasons for Pakistan's backwardness. After all your country doesn't have 'caste apartheid'.
