India not war ready, Army Chief tells Modi

@Indo-guy @chhota bheem

One more 26/11 or attack on the Parliament and we'll be all talking war.

Difficult to predict ...how GOI will respond !

possibility of another 26/11 like attack has heightened dramatically after Modi came to power .

GOI need to prepare to tackle this possibility ....It is highly likely ...rather I would say it's very much imminent ....

One more 26/11 and we will see military action. BJP will be finished if it does nothing.

You will not understand what it means to speak truth ....you have no distant relation with term truth .

You live lives of lie and untruth ....in paradise of delusions with dreams of illusions ...we are not like you .

we will embrace truth however bitter it may be and overcome obstacles to correct our deficiencies ...rather than brushing them under the carpet and belittle others ....

Well, what are the options for replacing the INSAS? Do we have any indigenous rifle that can fit the needs of the armed forces?
The army is currently testing DRDO made multi caliber gun which was showcased in the last defence expo. There is also a tender for another gun, though I am not sure how far that deal went.

This will increase the morale of Hafeez Saeed...expect more terror attacks.

Such things on military preparedness should not come out in the media.

It is only about Army, not about our intelligence agencies.
Pakistanis are not that dumb to trust the Generals words blindly.

Due to blessings of St. Antony

In fact that man only work for the welfare of military personnels. But he dont do anything for weapons purchasing and modernisation.Being a Keralite,I am ashamed about him.

This is not a problem when Pakistan is the opponent.
But situation will quite dangerous when the opponent is China.
Because it is about a war situation.

I dont think its a smart way to ask for more funds and more budget.
Indians have modernized by many folds in last decade. The defense budget is more then doubled in last decade, so whats the hue and cry?

Admit it or not, whether its India or Pakistan, more money means more opportunities for corruption. The OP post is highlighting also that lots of tenders worth billions of $$$ are still under process. Tenders and trials have been called many times, but no solid progress yet. What that shows? Corruption and more corruption.

Any dumb can understand that what companies do to get tenders. Girls, money, tours and everything that one can wish for.
Consider at these positions guys like you and me. Would we ever like to get over with these times?
Remember that Indian Navy official pictures with a Russian girl?

I bet that increase your defence budget by 50%, your defence establishment will still say that its not enough.

29 posts so far and none are related to the topic at hand!!Not a single post is addressing the issues described in the original post - what is this guys??!!

For instance,we are hearing all this fuss of night blindness in the Army for so many years that it's not even funny anymore!!But if my memory serves me correct,IRDE has already developed a plethora of 3rd generation passive night sights for assault rifles,GPMGs,RCL guns, passive night vision and thermal sniper scopes and handheld thermal imagers with CCD!!Why doesn't the IA take a look at them, try them in the field condition and then opt for necessary modifications instead of bitching for foreign products??

Next coming to the INSAS 1B1.I've talked with many soldiers and majority of them were praising this rifle for its simplicity in maintainance, rough handling and long distance accuracy, but what they dislike is lack of modularity and provision for easier mounting for different accessories.
This again could've been easily solved had the IA top brass shown a little bit of presence of mind!!All they had to do was to ask the ARDE to change outer furniture with a polymer one with p-rail mounts for ease of mounting of accessories, replace the buttstock with telescoping one with shock absorbers and replace the 20 round magazines with the 30 round ones from the INSAS LMG!!It would've done just fine till the multical becomes operational. But no,they kept bitching for a foreign rifles for all these years all the while the solutions were already present in the country!!
Just take a look at the M 16.When it first came out,the A1 model,it was a crap.Did the US Army and USMC replaced it (well the Army did eventually, with probably something far worse!!) then and there??No.They kept improving the design and now the M 16A4 is a totally different thing!!And it's not just the US,but the whole world followed this method.Designes are ought to be evolutionary and not revolutionary!!I just can't seem to understand why do we have to be the exception to the world acknowledged norm all the time!!

Just PR from the forces to get more attention from the new government, nothing new, nothing big. Tomorrow they will say they are ready for a 2 front war, so the truth is always in between and when you look at it from all points of views.

Cheetah-Chetak helicopter replacement for example were on hold, by IA suggestion, because of possible corruption problems by an IA officer.
The air defence could be better today, if IA had simply procured the same SPYDER SAM system, based on TATA trucks, that the IAF has procured and inducted already. So when IAF can do it, why couldn't IA?
The ATGM procurement is reportedly stalled on ToT issues from the US for the Javelin. My guess is they simply don't fulfill the requirements in that regard and therefor might be rejected, which then results in a single vendor problem, leaving only Rafaels SPIKE.
And we all know about the delays in the howitzer competitions and the reasons for that.

Dont blame the likes of AK Anthony, MMS or Menon. All the blame lies soley on the Gandh Family. Do you really think these ppl were incapable? Sonia, Rahul and their entire family has been the root cause of India's incompetence.

It is only about Army, not about our intelligence agencies.
Pakistanis are not that dumb to trust the Generals words blindly.

Im a Malu also. Its not AK's fault. The reality is that the Gandhi family wont allow anything to go thru. Look at how MMS was cornered in office and he was the bloody PM! Defence minister position is the most lucrative position in India for reason I am sure you can grasp. AK had a great deal to fix.

To tell you the truth I am not surprised at this, not because for any prejudice reasons, but for the simple fact, with roughly the same number of soldiers, only about 800,000 is actual front line troops, the rest is military police, different from special police, China is finding it increasingly hard to work with the budgets.

We can only complete the full transformation of the army by 2020, and that's with roughly the same size army. what this includes are night vision, new rifles, new tanks, APCs, and others. So more or less by American standards, but less helicopters.

As of today PLA is still underfunded.

India is only spending so much money, how can you possibly arm your soldiers effectively. Don't just look it us, look at America, with just 600,000+? total, including marines, they are spending way more, and it's still not enough. Obviously they are doing it more expensively, but it's still not a cheap proposition.

You would probably need 2 decades of military budget increases and work for you to be able to field everything that you think you need.

Our priorities in order of necessity -

Army -

1)Heavy Artillery guns,specially 145 light howitzers.
2)Ammunition reserves replenishment
3)197 light helos for siachen
4)New assault rifles for overall improvement.
5)Thermal viewers on helmets for COIN ops and counter infiltration.
6)ATGMs for infantry,to deal with new enemy armour.
7)MANPADS and air defence systems.

Of these artillery, light helos, ammo stocks and thermal viewers are urgent with assault rifles next.

Air force -

1)MMRCA -Rafales to replenish our depleted squadron strength
2)Air defence systems to replace the aged pechoras protecting the air bases.Akash and spyder are good starts.

Overall airforce is good save the numbers crunch due to mmrca and lca delay.

NAVY -

1)Urgent ssk hunter killers.
2)New helicopters for ASW duty
3)At least 1 more ssn to escort the carrier battlegroups.

Plus faster p-17b,ADS carrier, minesweepers and move on to larger SSBN.

Its our army that is mostly in the hole...
Air force needs rafale and navy subs mainly...but army needs ammo, helos, rifles, artillery, infantry kit, infantry support weapons, air defence...god.

Our General is also aim for such modernisation .That is why he explained all this to our PM.They are aiming for a mighty Army. For that General may exaggarate the situation .It may be helpful for more funding.
This will create problem to us if the opponents is too strong and I am not talking about Pakistan.May you know that.
