India no match for China on social indicators: Amartya Sen

That is a 2007 chart, and even then we still score better than you in percentage terms.

Besides there is a serious qualitative difference.

Slums in China have toilets and electricity, those in India do not.

There are slums in Hong Kong too. There's photos of them and they're still there.

Yet the average "slum dweller" in Hong Kong is LIGHTYEARS ahead of even middle class Indians. Why? Because Hong Kong slum dwellers have electricity, and toilets.

Slum is a slum and not a Five Star Hotel as you are claiming. I have seen pictures of dirty Chinese slums. 174 Million people living in slums a country with double digit growth rate. Holy Sh!t. :cheesy:

Yep, the first thing you'll notice is no one is shitting on the pavement because there's toilets. There's stacks of air conditioners in the windows, check that. LMAO backfired.

Indian journalist have to wake up to what more are seeing as Chinese orchestrated numbers. Much of the data coing out from that 3rd world country is state * wink ** approved. For being so called second largest economy, they earn almost 11times less in household income compared to us. They have forced labor and most of the population lives in houses the size of our bathrooms here.

Lastly, you guys are 1/3 of their economy so I laud you for looking up, unlike the Chinese who aim to compare themselves to India and not the US. Finally, the more quote "richer" the Chinese get, the more they run off with their wealth to us  . On the flip side, Indians get rich, have no fear of their govt seizing their money if earned legally. You have to look no further than their slum dwellers, they are chained, force to work in labor camps and live in a ****-hole shanty on premise.

42 percent of Indian children under 5 malnourished
AP – 13 mins ago

NEW DELHI (AP) — Forty-two percent of children in India younger than 5 are underweight and nearly 60 percent are stunted, a new survey found.

The Hunger and Malnutrition Survey monitored over 100,000 children in 112 districts across nine states in the country from October 2010 to February of last year.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh released the report Tuesday and called child malnutrition the country's shame.

India's economy has boomed, with growth over the last few years averaging about 8 percent, but the country's development indicators continue to be abysmal.

Singh released a summary of the report's findings and more details on its findings were not yet available.

The survey conducted by a group of non-profits was the largest such study since 2004, when the Indian government had surveyed child malnutrition. It was the first study by the group so comparative numbers are not available.

UNICEF's latest data say one-third of the world's malnourished children younger than 3 lives in India, a rate worse than sub-Saharan Africa.

Here is the difference.

The World's 25 Dirtiest Cities - Forbes.com

Mumbai and New Delhi are considered two of the dirtiest cities in the world. Meanwhile, not one single Chinese city makes that list.

There is a reason that film about the "Mumbai millionaire" was made in India and nowhere else. :azn:

Shall I post the picture of Chinese five star slums. As usual, I have talked to many Chinese, they told me dirtiness in Chinese slums are same like India only thing is Chinese government don't let outsiders to see that. People got confused by seeing high rises of Shanghai.

Your India has the majority of its population without toilets, and yet you guys are still so boastful.

well our country was ruled for almost entire post independence period by congress so what can we expect

And even if those slum dwellers earn only a fraction of the average income, they are better off than the average Indian. :azn:

At least they have toilets, electricity and running water.

Slum has a definition. A slum is never a 2 star, 5 star or 18 Star as propagated by a genius like you.

According to "The Economist", China is 40 years ahead of India, in terms of development indicators.

Amartya Sen, India's foremost economic expert, is essentially saying the same thing.

Considering that our GDP was the same as India's in 1990, that is quite a gap right?
