Luckily no one speaks standard Hindi in India outside UP, MP, Rajasthan, and 2-3 more states. It's an atrocious, horrible language. Completely unlearnable.

Guru-ji, what you haven't gathered in your data-gathering excursions is that no one speaks standard Hindi in UP, MP, especially not Rajasthan, or in the 2-3 other states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal either.

Hindi has different versions from place to place , travelling in UP in bus you will know when language turn from Hindu to Urdu to Bhojpuri .... but its good a kid deserves to learn in his/her mother tongue by the end English is just a language , It will give equal playing filed to kids from rural areas

The problem with this latest brain fart is that the Bhojpuri will give way to the bastardised version of standard Hindi that the local teacher is able to acquire.

right or wrong is a matter of perspective.
And what this reform does, improve or destroy, only time will tell and will again be a matter of personal POV.
