No need to ask @sancho about that. There is nothing technical about it.It's just ethical.Once you are into reverse engineering and eating into the market of OEM with cheap copies no country would sell you any defence equipment.

ya...i thought so....
building a 4th gen ac may be difficult but copying/reverse engineering must be way less difficult(n it definitely saves time)...
we have the resources....why dont we do it like d chinese n save money????

No surprise to see the congress to screw India by signing the deal for 18 Rafale. 
As expected, it appears to be a ONE SIDED deal that will benefit only France without extracting ANY commitment from Rafale for ToT.

Russian sold China the Su27 production line with TOT more than 20 yrs to date, China didn't just copy and paste by looking at the lay out of the jet, China licensed to build Su27 allowed China to build up their aerospace infrastructure and China aerospace engineering familiarized the process and procedure to build fighter jet with implementing China own electronic software into J11 program, China needed to gain experience through building the existence fighter jet model and now China capable of build a 5 generation fighter jet with their own input or desire.

There are many areas in India's defence industry where huge spendings are required。
Engine development is a case in point。
India needs to spend at least 20 years and 200 billion USD in this regard alone。
Better save the limited resources for India's own advancement than feed the French in exchange for some outdated jets。

even if ppl break heads, the deal is gng to be signed.. don sweat it.. also wait for more information on deal modalities before jumping teh gun and bashing it...
Rafale in an awesome addition to IAF which is building squadrons of high quality ( read QUALITY NOT QUANTITY) birds for various strategic purposes.. Yes the process os a bit slow due to various reasons beyond us, but still its much better..
on One of the above post ( don remember which one), i would like to say only one thing... We dont cheat anybody be it friend or foe.. we respect even our enemies.. check our history if u dont believe it.. so no need of saying we cant copy and produce.. its bcz we will nt do un ethical things in the first place.. and that too back stabbing our friends?? pfttt... Pls don pass brain farts here.. we would rather pay and then build rather than steal and mass produce and quote "reverse engineering"
