What's new

India may send troops to fight in yemen

1) India KSA, UAE joint exercises
2) India missiles exports to gulf countries
3) Indian forces protecting KSA.
4) India sending troops to fight in Yemen.
5) India had started military diplomacy against Pakistan in Arab world.
Indian initiatives in ME have not gone well historically. India was a major backer of Saddamist Iraq (that didn't go well), Then stayed out out of the region for a long time, then backed the new Kabul regime and Iran (that didn't go well). Now has moved on to GCC. I'll give them points for effort. They will promise a lot but not really deliver. Kabul regime, Iranians, and Armenians found this out.:pop:

The article suggest few things.
1) India KSA, UAE joint exercises
2) India missiles exports to gulf countries
3) Indian forces protecting KSA.
4) India sending troops to fight in Yemen.
5) India had started military diplomacy against Pakistan in Arab world.

Number 3 looks like fake to me due to multiple reasons.
Time and again, GoI has always made it clear that we will only send troops under the UN flag

.
Yeah because desert mountains are Indian Army's forte !!

Yemen already has Indian libraries built during the 80s and 90s.

.
Indian army has muslims, christians, Sikhs and Parsis and Jews too, and that too in large numbers. We are not like pakistan where if a Hindu or sikh joins army it becomes a news.
And India will never send it's army to fight in Arab.
Will disagree with you about the Indian Armed Forces secular credentials and if Hindu/ Sikh troops have fought in Arab Muslim lands. Hindu and Sikh troops have fought and served as occupation/ controlling forces both as part of the Royal Indian Army under the British and as the Indian Army of independent India.
Let me refresh your memory.

Royal Indian Army troops (exclusively Sikh and Hindu regiments ) did fight in Iraq and Palestine against Turkey in the First World War. Muslim units were not used because there had already been a mutiny in Singapore of RIA Muslim troops. The fight in Iraq continued into the 1920s with RIA Hindu and Sikh units operating with air and chemical weapons ( Mustard Gas) support. During World War 2 , RIA Hindu and Sikh troops were used in Iraq to suppress a popular uprising against British rule, which is one reason why a substantial number of RIA Muslim POWs in Singapore defected to the secular Indian National Army under Subhas Bose. In the late 1950s a large contingent of UN peace keeping Sikh and Hindu troops were stationed in Gaza. Unfortunately in 1967 they fell foul of the Israeli offensive, and suffered heavy casualties ( inflicting none on the Israelis ).
Muslims constitute an extremely insignificant percentage ( 2% ???) of the Indian Army's manpower and 99% are non-combatant enrolled ( NRE) working as kitchen assistants, janitors, chaparasis, cantonment gardeners, mess boys etc. or any job not requiring combat. The Indian army has an undisguised disgust of Muslims in general and thinks very poorly of their fighting abilities.
On a side note :
One reason the Indian Armed Forces often come up short when dealing with Pakistan is because they imagine the Pakistanis to be "Muslims " identical to the wretched, poverty stricken, starving disease ridden scared demoralized Indian Muslim population. They learn the hard way that the Punjabi Jatt from the Potohari belt, the Bakuchi from Quetta, the Sindhi from Larkana or the Afridi from Waziristan is different. Very different.

Royal Indian Army troops
British Indian Army [BIA].

Muslim units were not used
Ball Oxe. They were used in massive numbers. Other than few defections [mostly Pakhtun soldiers] most units fought admirably and one soldier even won the Victoria Cross while giving it to the Turks. It was what you might call 'muslim on Muslim ' killing which is not extraordinary. Indeed it is common. Iran-Iraq war. Yemen War. Hostile firing on Af-Pak border etc

. 01/07/1879 Rawalpindi (then India). d. 28/07/1947 Takhti, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Shahamad Khan (1879-1947) was born on 1st July 1879 in the village of Takhti, near Rawalpindi, India. He joined the Army on 1st December 1904 and served in many theatres during the Great War, including Egypt, Dardanelles [Turkey], France and Mesopotamia. It was near Beit Ayeesa, Mesopotamia [Iraq] that he was awarded the VC for his actions on 12th-13th April 1916.

Shahamad Khan was in charge of a machine-gun section 150 yards from the enemy's position, covering a gap in the New Line at Beit Ayeesa, Mesopotamia on 12th/13 April 1916. After all his men, apart from two belt-fillers, had become casualties, Shamahad Khan, working the gun single-handed, repelled three counter-attacks.

All minorities but especially Indian Muslims will not go into a organisation full of hindutva bakhts
But are happy living in a country full of Hinduva Bakhts.

Britain saw little practicality in sending non Muslim cannon fodder subject to Muslim lands.

It had ample supply of Muslim blood from northern and central plains of the sub continent.

Whatever you have written is more of your narrative than fact.

British sent whom to fight where was their discretion. Can you provide proof that the units which fought in Arab were entirely comprised of Hindus and Sikhs.
And so far no survey has been done on the percentage of servicemen in our forces based on religion. One such attempt was made but that had to be rolled back due to uproar it caused nationwide.
And you will do better to let go of your stereotype that you have about Indian Muslim's, they are doing better than you people.

Agreed. The indian idea of a 'Muslim' is some half starved, Mumbai slumdog Dalit convert. They don't that know that Muslim on their western borders all the way to Turkey used to chew Hindus for breakfast for 1,000 years.
