1.The writ of the Maoists / Naxals now cover parts of Maharashtra.
2. When the bulging below-poverty population of 840 million see that India has become the world leader in arms purchase to counter imaginary threats, they must get frustrated. A hungry man when frustrated becomes violent.
Talk for yourself. Maybe you get violent when you are hungry. Most people just go find ways to get food. If all humans started killing others when they feel hungry, humanity would not have survived this long. Most people who get hungry try to find a job and earn a living. I don't know how it is where you live, but thats what we are taught here. What do they teach you there? That picking up a gun and shooting others will satisfy your hunger?
And by the way, tell me how it is that these hungry men can't afford food, but can afford imported arms and ammunitions. Surely food costs less than AK-47s, rockets, RDX etc? Again, I don't know how it works in the place you live, but that is how it works in India. So don't pretend that this is some hungry person desperately stealing food. It is not - it is a bunch of men trying (and failing) to gain power through armed means. All they can do is sporadic attacks now and then, just like the islamic terrorists (and any other kind of terrorists). They do not and will not control Indian territory. And once the effects of the reforms brought in by Chidambaram start to show, these will be eliminated too - just like the much more deadly and sophisticated khalistan terrorists and kashmir based ones have been systematically eliminated.
Even today, they have the presence of a few armed men in several districts, and that is all they have. Normal life goes on in the country, except in some remote tribal areas, where these terrorists terrorise poor tribals and force them to take up guns instead of earning a proper living.
And below poverty line of 840 million? On every thread, non indians come give whatever figure they please.
