Won't be bad for IOR region. packed with 12-16 cruise missiles and 6000+ km range, It can map IOR with fire power.

Their 6000+ Km range means nothing as no aircraft in Indian inventory can provide fighter escort for these antique beasts, and they will be easy kill for the carrier based aircraft on their own. It is one thing to bomb Syrian rebels, but I don't think these are still capable to take on a modern Navy with fighter escorts.

With the current Chinese Navy, perhaps the only possible threat will be their submarines and for that India is inducting Poseidons, so why invest in this old junk.

Thats purely depends on how and where one use it. If I am talking about IOR, I am talking from position of strength as we'll have our 2-3 aircraft carriers roaming in this very region and many strategic air force and naval bases on various islands in the middle of seas. It make sense then. Its ability to carry a huge number of long range cruise missiles is what interests me....

Never claimed to be one, nor did i claim a head to head confrontation as a means of countering. Simply pointing out the fallacy of the journalist claiming that 4 are enough to deter China, when they have the means and numbers to deliver a saturation attack. If India loses one, that's an entire quarter of her strategic bomber fleet, if china does, it's a mild irritance.
