India is still far from being a superpower. So one step at a time.
India like China still need that Iranian oil. And convenient due to geography. What do they expect them to do? Fall back on their economic growth just to please Western interests? That's not how things work.
It's rather contradictory. For America, a strong Indian economy is an asset, not a liability. While at the same time they don't want them to buy oil from Iran?
I hope for their sake they do a bit more homework on their diplomacy.
Fair enough. But Mr. Burns should understand that India never was a major non-NATO ally. It was a Cold War era foe to begin with.
Do not be naive enough to expect things to change fast Mr. Burns like as in:
"Oh look! I am a Democracy, you are a Democracy! Let's be pals! **** China! **** Iran! **** Pakistan! **** etc! Let's go mess them up
"
Especially in Asia and the Middle East. These 'quick solutions' only do more harm than good toward US interests. And I often wonder why Americans generally understand so extremely little about other cultures and history. And that isn't surprising coming from a country being descended from and founded by slaves and immigrants. And based on Roman culture and heritage.
First do your homework, and then come lecture the older boys who'd been in this world long before your country even existed.
Iran has important cultural and historical links with South Asia spanning for hundreds and thousands of years.
Again I'd wonder why there'd been so many wars waged by the United States after then end of WWII. Pity
