And pray, how is 'great' China making the Security Council better? It' broken every rule in the book. Look at the South China Sea. It's made enemies with all littoral countries because of it going by some silly ancient 17th century maps made during the Qing dynasty instead of abiding by the Security Council treaties like the UNCLOS, setting a bad example to the world.

By the way, it's a shame that China having the second largest armed force and a permanent member of the UNSC has contributed only 3000 troops for peace keeping missions whereas India has provided more than 8000. Even Bangladesh has contributed more than 8000 troops to the UN Peace keeping operations.

On the original post, yes there are problem in the way the troops are deployed and managed, but no nation is forced to send troops. india has 2 options....

A. Bring this up at the security council meeting (which is what they did, kudos / well done) as they have their troops deployed they have every right to protest on their behalf, but please note india does not represent troops from from other nations.

B. Stop sending troops.

On topic, how does the funding works?

Say on UN missions, do peacekeeper-sending countries fund all the costs from their own inland revenue? It seems unfair to South Asian countries, as well as to Ethiopia & Rwanda (they are also among T5 peacekeeper sending countries), if they have to bear the costs. Or is it funded by UN?

UN peacekeeping is paid for by assessed contributions, with the United States the top provider -- paying 28 percent of the budget -- followed by Japan, France, Germany and Britain. Bangladesh emerged first for contributing the highest number of troops to the UN peacekeeping missions across the globe, other top contributors of troops to peacekeeping missions are Pakistan, India, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
