What's new

India just hanged Kasab

You know, I am an outsider. But I will give you my real life experience. I hired two guys from India and both were muslims. I didn't come to find out until later about it when I met them. As I know the area and have been to both countries many times, I inquired. One was a very focused, 'I love India', the other one was like that too to some degree. But he told the first one "honestly, when the separation was happening, I wish we'd went with the other side, there was a reason".
Not to bash India or Pakistan as both have similar issues. Pakistan has Islamic supremacy deal going on while India has hindu supremacy. The point is, not ALL muslims in India believe that India is or was for them. At the same time, A HUGE majority of muslims doesn't exactly like the Pakistanis. Something that Pakistan needs to understand.

Thats Ok.

Everyone has a POV.

I have not come across Muslims who want to go over. They may have grouses over jobs etc - but then its a level playing field for all as far as education is concerned.

So now you believe these polls?

Refresh my memory - when did I state that I did not believe these polls?

Yea he also believe in this poll of july 2012 :P

A survey of some of the world's richest countries suggests that India ranks the worst for women, coming even lower than Saudi Arabia. The poll, by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, looked at a range of factors, from women's education and health care to job opportunities and violence against women.

Learning English - Words in the News - Poll finds India worst for women

I don't doubt that India is pathetic for women. I have never stated otherwise.

what you will say about this ? :D

India may well be the world's fastest growing "free market"economy, but it is no competition to its neighbours when it comes to the social wellbeing of her people.

A comparison with the neighbouring nations shows that besides Pakistan, all others like Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and China are far better off in terms of various social welfare indicators.

Even as India's positive growth story makes headlines, it is the second worst performing country in South Asia when it comes to female literacy.

At 74 per cent, India is ranked just above Pakistan where 61 per cent of the women are educated. Even Bangladesh fares better.

And it gets worse.

Among South Asian countries India is probably the worst place to be born in, as the chances of survival till the age of five are much weaker than the chances in Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and China. Yet again, we are better off than Pakistan, albeit slightly.

The revelation is not too surprising when 28 per cent of children in India are born underweight as against three per cent in China, 17 per cent in Sri Lanka, 21 per cent in Nepal and 22 per cent in Bangladesh.

This embarrassing performance has come to the fore with the release of a UNICEF report in the Capital on Wednesday.

The study highlights the state of poor children growing up in cities. Statistics on child survival, development and protection paint a very sorry state of India in comparison to its neighbours as well.

Not everyone in India, however, is unfamiliar with this scenario.

The Human Development Report 2011 released by the Institute of Applied Manpower Research (IAMR) (an autonomous body under the Planning Commission) last year had made some shocking revelations on the levels of food insecurity, malnutrition and the dismal health infrastructure of the country.

In January, the Prime Minister called malnourishment among children a "national shame"while releasing a report on hunger and malnutrition.

"It's a shame that in some states of our country the levels of hunger and malnutrition are worse than some sub- Saharan countries. A lot needs to done in terms of social welfare of our children and women,"Shantha Sinha, head of the National Commission for protection of Child Rights, who was present at the launch of the report said.

URBAN POOR NEGLECTED

SHOWING how the cities in India have failed to nurture its poor children, the UNICEF report shatters the common perception that the urban poor are better off than their counterparts in rural areas.

Infant mortality rate for the underprivileged in cities (55 deaths for every 1,000 live births) is not too different from the scenario in rural India (62 deaths for every 1,000 live births).

Anaemia is almost equally prevalent in urban (71 per cent) and rural (72 per cent) children.

But the most embarrassing statistic is on the underweight children in urban areas. Forty seven per cent of urban poor children are born underweight as against 46 per cent in rural India. "Our report shows that growing up poor in a city is much tougher than it is in a village,"K. D. Maiti, planning monitoring and evaluation specialist with Unicef, India said.

WASHINGTON, Oct 3: Pakistanis, in general, are happier about their lives than both Indians and Americans, says a survey released on Wednesday.
The Happy Planet Index 2012 ranks Pakistan 16th among 151 countries, ahead of both India and the United States ranked 32nd and 105th respectively.
The HPI measures human wellbeing and environmental impact of a country’s development to determine its rank. The index was introduced in July 2006 by a British NGO, the New Economics Foundation, which also has a branch in the United States. The HPI 2012 ranked Costa Rica as the happiest country in the world, followed by Vietnam and Colombia.
Costa Rica has consistently been among the top Latin American countries in the Human Development Index, ranked 69th in the world in 2011. In 2010,
UNDP cited Costa Rica as one of the countries that have attained much higher human development than other countries at the same income levels.
And in 2011, UNDP included it among good performers on environmental sustainability, with a better record on human development and inequality than the median of their region. It was also the only country to meet all five criteria established to measure environmental sustainability.
Costa Rica is ranked fifth in the world, and first among the Americas, in the 2012 Environmental Performance Index.
Costa Rica constitutionally abolished its army permanently in 1949. It is the only Latin American country among the world’s 22 older democracies.
The Happy Planet Index is calculated using life expectancy, wellbeing and ecological footprint of the countries with data collected from various sources including UNDP and Gallup.
The life expectancy and experienced wellbeing of Pakistan was found to be mediocre, but the ecological footprint was termed “good”. The total HPI of Pakistan was calculated at 54.1.
Israel landed just one spot above Pakistan, with “good” life expectancy and wellbeing, but a “poor” ecological footprint.
Bangladesh was higher up on the scale at 11, with the first two factors termed mediocre and the footprint as “good”.
India showed mediocre life expectancy and wellbeing but a “good” ecological footprint. India’s total HPI was 50.9.
The United States scored low because of its ecological footprint which was worse than the “poor” category. The life expectancy and well-being were, however, ranked “good”.Afghanistan was ranked 109.
The countries which landed at the bottom of the Happiness Index were mostly from Sub-Saharan Africa.

Minutes before his execution in Pune's Yerwada prison on Wednesday, Pakistani gunman Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab appeared To Be nervous:cheesy: :cheesy::cheesy:but was quiet and offered prayers, a jail official said.

"From his body language, we could make out that he was very nervous. However, he remained quiet before he was taken out from his cell for the hanging," the official said.:undecided:

Kasab had also offered prayers and asked if his family was informed in advance about the hanging to which jail authorities replied in the affirmative, the official said.

Nearly four years after the Mumbai terror attack, Kasab, the sole surviving Pakistani gunman, was hanged this morning at Yerwada central prison here in a top secret operation.

Ten terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) had come to Mumbai and carried out the dastardly strikes in which 166 people were killed.

Nine of them were killed during the 60-hour siege which began on the night of November 26, 2008. Kasab was, however, caught alive.

...and I suppose I have a brain capable of being "washed" & you have a brain that simply cannot be "washed"?

The difference between Indians and Pakistanis is that many Pakistanis are wise to the games played by governments. By contrast, most Indians are extremely gullible and believe everything GoI and the sensationalist media tell them, especially anything involving Pakistan.

It would have been so easy to just label you a terrorist sympathizer without bothering to point out arguments.

Your 'arguments' boil down to "you didn't toe our line, so you guys are terrorist sympathizers". Of course, that's the new Indian ego at work to try and act like the US. If you're not "with us" then you are with the terrorists. Concepts of legal framework and due process go out the window.

As of now and certainly as of 2008, true.

Again, mere allegations. Nothing proven,

No stonewalling. Your establishment's first reaction was to try & hide Kasab's identity. Your government refuses to look at Headley's testimony, tried to prevent Abu Jundal's extradition to India. Hardly acts of a "partner". Your government, like you just wishes that this investigation goes away because you don't want to or refuse to take a hard look inside.

Because India insists that Pakistan conduct its investigations by remote control without getting access to the principals. That's not how criminal cases work around the world; especially such high profile cases.

Investigate? Why then did Mr.Rehman Malik so quickly washed his hands of him, the moment he was extradited. Did he know what he was going to reveal? Why when he was not wanted in Pakistan, was Pakistan so desperate to prevent extradition to India. If KSA accused him of recruiting terrorists there, it is simply not Pakistan's case but the case of KSA. Why try to stop extradition to India even after knowing that India was going after him because of his involvement in26/11? Good look convincing anyone with your argument.

If someone is committing crimes pretending to be a Pakistani agent, then Pakistan should have a crack at him. India got to him -- because of US pressure -- so what was the point of Pakistan continuing to press for him? It was a given that India would not release him to Pakistan.

Yea - women in India are discriminated against. Yes, they suffer from lower literacy levels. Yes, many Indian kids are undernourished. I would have to be blind to deny these realities.
